This has been a long anticipated race between a close buddy of mine. He has a semi-built ford 302 (such as bigger cam, intake manifold, carb, different gears, compression, b&m shift kit, msd ignition setup, exhaust cutout & more) in a early 80's ford ranger. It has taken him about 2 months with fab and installation of the engine and parts. The whole time he just keeps on saying how he is going to smoke my truck and all his friends say that I do not have a chance because you can hear his truck from mile away. He finally got his truck done last week and it has been rainning everyday for the last month basically so the ground has been wet. Until Yesterday!!!!!
I called him up and drove out to his house (keeping in mind that my truck has a K&N cone and 3" catback exhaust no muffler & a very good tune) Truck is running perfectly and was running like a bat out of hell.
Out of all the people that were going to watch like 10, only 2 said I was going to win!?!?!?!
So we drove out to the spot and lined up and another car a quarter mile down the road. We had one of the girls flag us from a stop (I never brake boost my truck, but this day was different, I had to show him what a syclone was!!)

I left him standing still, and had a few bus lengths by the end. So he wanted to race from a 5mph roll. Its not the favorite speed to start out for a sy but I wasnt going to back down.
So we line up again and start the roll, hit the mark----hit the gas------hit boost----and pulled on him tough. Had him by about 6 car lengths by the end and didnt even get to shift into OD. On the way back we raced again from a 20mph roll and the same outcome!!!
The first words out of his mouth when we stepped out of our trucks were "Damn!!!! I guess im going to have to spend some more money to beat you." So I guess now his goal is to beat my truck. Whatever and I told him to remember that mine is almost all stock.
Everybody was surprised and gave my truck more credit. I have the races on video, but they are in the dark, I will try to post up later. Will post up pics of his truck soon too.
