Sy #174?

Found it for sale close by.

Seller says hes 3rd owner, bought it from Florida.
Florida owner had a new paint job due to clear coat chipping, along with a dealer installed new crate motor (didnt say exactly what happened to original motor). Chipped, newer turbo, Kenne Bell headers and exhaust, battery relocated to bed to make room for a CAI.
Florida owner was a boat dealership owner and used the Sy to haul a jet ski (bad). Says the front driveshaft is pulled.

Would you guys buy it for 10,000? part of me says yes and part says no. there are a couple things that catch my attention... heres a few pics sent to me. I could be going to look at it this weekend.

Let me know what you guys think. I've been into S-10s for about 8 years but i'm just learning a lot more about sytys so if you see anything or know of anything i should ask about let me know.

Note the diamond plate on the inside tailgate and the M3 mirrors, and ofcourse the hitch.
Seller thinks its #174 he wasnt sure. I checked Sportmachines and theres no info on that #.

Re: Sy #174?

sy's never had clear from factory so hard to believe the clear was chipping.

Does the owner know what brand of chip is in the ECU? If it's a Kenne Bell walk away.

Re: Sy #174?

Should it be selling for 10k? Yes....it would help the market value.

Is it worth 10k compared to what else is available on the market? No....there are cheaper trucks out there that I would consider a good deal.

Dont recognize this truck for being a ex-FL truck.

Convienence plays a factor in your case, since its close by. No traveling to go see it or be disappointed. Dealer installed crate motor would have me concerned depending on which crate motor it was. Steering wheel is worn, not a big deal but the brake pedal pad is not factory...missing the Sy decal on the glovebox, its got Q-forms, Having the yanked pshaft can go either way with the xfer case (some people dont have probs, some people do). The past towing would concern me a bit as well just for wear and tear on the trans and rear end depending how heavy the loads where with the jet ski.

My opinion, its all in what you think its worth to you. Ive seen more stock trucks go for a bit less, though mileage plays a factor as well.

Re: Sy #174?

can you elaborate a lil more on the KB chip? is it something i can replace ASAP or has it hurt the motor or something else already and not worth it? I'm not sure if its a KB chip or not, same with the turbo.

Thank you for your input Adam (SYO). I didnt even notice the glovebox decal missing. What should a Sy brake pedal pad look like?

Re: Sy #174?

Thanks for the pic.
Sorry i worded that wrong, i knew the chip could be replaced, but like i did guess it hurt the internals. Thanks for the info, i appreciate it!

And oddly enough, i found it on craigslist, and today the ad doesnt come up in the search...

Re: Sy #174?

seller says just under 80k on the truck, not sure on when the motor was replaced. But if the motor was swapped at the dealer there should be paperwork of mileage at that time...

Re: Sy #174?

I may go look at this next weekend just for the hell of it. I cant purchase anything else until my sonoma sells anyways. I'll give you guys the rundown if i do go take a peek.
