Stupid Fun; Competing against the local RADAR readout truck.

You know those "Your Speed Is" trailers that the police put up to remind people to slow down? Well, today I came across one in an industrial area on the way to dinner, and no one was around, anywhere. I stopped in front of it and launched, and I think you could have a pretty cool little "short time" competition with one of these things.

When you're stopped, it shuts the display off. When you launch, the first number it puts up can be pretty impressive for a sy/ty. I want to get it on video, mine was 18MPH and that was with an ok launch, not a huge one. I think it would be impressive in-car video to post to the net if you did it with a fast truck. 0-30 in a blink basically...

Try it, it's fun ;-) (just don't do it with the cops right around the corner)

I had an idea months ago to do this, but the only one we've had around is in a busy residential area ... kinda the reason it's there.

Also reminded me of the worlds stupidest criminals, where they videotape themselves joyriding & thieving...but then I figured, hell I wouldn't be on tape, it'd be Potter in a Braphoon or Syclone....

i throw change at them to set off the alarm. the alarm really bugs the people that have to live where the police in my town put them. they get enough calls about the alarms going off, hopfully they will just not use them. its seriously, every 15 mins i drive by and set off the alarm again.

Why are you throwing away money? Sounds like you should be carrying around a pocket full of rocks. Which part to you aim at for the alarm?

one of my friends decided to play with one of those things in HS.
had his POS nissan fly by it as fast as he could, which was like 105 or something.

well about 3 weeks later, there was a nice ticket, photograph of his car, and a court notice. his parents werent happy.....

.....needless to say I drove him around after that, lol.

They have alarms???

Shit I didnt know that.

I always just floor it and see how high I can get it in that short distance.
Now I can practice penny target practice on them...

i dont like pennies. just throw them pretty much at the base. the whole thing has a car alarm on it, or they do in addison. real loud too. its good to set off at like 3 am.

some do, the ones by me dont... they are very expensive, so odds are they dont have any photo-radar stuff on them.
