so $50 and its still better than the stock one
Yep! Gets rid of a lot of play in the stock rag joint shown below! The replacement shaft is on the right.

Will these work with headers?
They are physically quite a bit smaller than the original shaft. That should make the headers a lot easier to fit than the stock shaft with the nearly 3" rag joint. Take a look at this picture...

Unsolicited Reference

Replacement of the stock steering shaft didn't occur to me until reading other entries. I am replacing all the wear componenets in a 60k Sy front end and only bought the steering shaft with the expectation of minmal improvement. The replacement shaft eliminated play that I believed was in the steering box, much better feel, especially helping to lessen "wandering" on the freeway. If you are performance-oriented this is one of the cheapest improvemennts available for the vehicle. In performance to cost the bang-for-buck ratio makes this almost a necessary upgrade. The parts arrived quick and I would not hesitate recommending this product from this vendor.

Disclamer: my never-to-be-humble opinion.

Re: Steering shaft

Installed the steering shaft today. Woke up at 8:30am (I work second shift) ate breakfast and decided, what the heck today is a good day to tackle that steering shaft I've had for 8 months. So to make a long story short, an hour and 20 min. later I took it for a test drive. Best damn $50 I ever spent. Like a new truck!
Thanks fivetodrive!!!

Thanks for the good words you guys! I did not ask for the comments so they are really appreciated!

I have some more of these ready to go if anyone else wants to throw that stock shaft away!

Re: Steering shaft

I know you said you check the u-joints. But have any of these gone bad? I just don't want a broken shaft during a high speed turn.

Re: Steering shaft

I have never seen one break. The only thing I have seen is some of them have stiffened up which is what I consider going bad...

Re: Steering shaft

Yes I will ship to Switzerland via USPS Priority mail would be $32 USD. Which is pretty cheap with the US dollar in freefall...
