Its always nice to find tight box in your truck.... I adjusted the box 1/3 turn tighter and installed the jeep steering shaft from 94 wrangler. Just cut it down about 2 inches and made a homemade retainer, resued the bolts from the jeep perfect fit. No more sloopy steering YEAH !!! I belive "try me" posted this long ago and thats where I got the idea. So he gets the credit there. It does work, super easy, looks cleaner , and can be done in about 30 min at the cost of 15.00 ( ebay) I saw there were 2 lengths after cruising through some jeep sites, I got the longer one figuring I could always cut it down, Now I assume the shorter cheroke classic/sport one would be close to the correct length. But if you got a hack saw, file, a few sockets and a long extension its a breeze.
Tip, if you have all the stock stuff on your truck (aux cooler lines and such) its easier to slide it out the bottom by #6 plug than to go out the top as you would have to unbolt some items or bend your brake lines , neither things I wanted to do. New one in from the top. Takes up less space.
Have fun gentelmen.
This along with the sway bar stuff I did the other day makes the truck 100 x better to drive feels new again !!!
