SSBC Upgraded Calipers????

Has anyone went with the Stainless Steel Brake Corp. upgraded 2 piston calipers for our trucks. They are an easy bolton...cost is around $380 from Jegs. Just wondering if they are worth it. Anyone??

Thanks,
Mike

I would think that just the stock 98 and up calipers which are also a bolt on and cost about $38 each.

They are twin piston...I take it??
If so, it sounds like the way to go 8)

Thanks,
Mike

yup sure are. all the new body blazers and such have twin pistons and the rotor is a tad larger. it all bolts up to out knuckles.... directly swap.

John, where can you find them for $38.00 each? I'm assuming junk yard which is OK. Do they require the rotor also?

I would like to know who has done this upgrade? Is there any additional parts that need to be swapped in order for the calipers to work? The reason why I'm asking is, I have a first gen S-10 and would like to have a better bite on the brakes while keeping it inexpensive. Thx. Eric.

Im interested too. I am about to do power stop rotor and Hawk Pads, and perhaps I should make the conversion first. C'mon now...who's done this PICS?

Re: SSBC Upgraded Calipers????

I thought that the newer calipers required the use of the newer spindle, lower controll arm and a few other odds and ends.

They do require the newer spindle.. They bolt to the spindle totally differently than ours do.. Our A-arms work just fine though..

Here is our stock front caliper vs a 2nd gen stock front caliper:

Here is a comparison of the two spindles:
