Our stereo shop uses normal off the shelf poly loom with no reported problems, but i've had a few pieces under the hood of my truck on the turbo side of the motor distort and get melty looking. So i would avoid using it in above average heat areas.
Apparently there is a nylon split loom available that has a higher temp rating. Ebay has it, but not sure where to source locally.

Looks like about 6 feet or so of 1/4"
I don't know how long or what other sizes are in there. I was gonna order a mixed bag of 10 feet of 4 different diameters just to be safe.
I'll keep an eye on it for melt. Most is on top of the engine away from turbo and exh. manifolds.

I bought some a few years ago that was flame retardant and had a higher temp rating, I think it was off of ebay.

I was just looking at this yesterday. A lot of it looks like 1/4", but there's some bigger ones (maybe 5/8" or 3/4"). Let me know what you get, I'd like to do the same.

Most that attended HC this year got a small sample of it. I talked to the rep and he has been using it on a few vehicles he works on. Says it is far better then the standard plastic stuff and hold up the the higher heat very well. I plan on ordering some myself and giving it a try.

This is what we use.

It is not high heat resistant, but looks SO much better than plastic loom.

Knowing Baythan and his trucks he is going for an OEM look. And for that you gotta going with the regular loom.
I've been looking into various products to redo the loom and harnesses on the trucks we are doing and have the liberty to go away from stock. I was looking at the tech flex stuff, and then at HC the painless stuff was in our goody bag. Both products are almost identical from what I can tell. Same install tool, etc. I have two trucks to do at the moment and more that will need to be reloomed I'm sure. If enough folks were looking at doing something like this, Id be glad to try and work a deal with either Painless or Techflex and see if we can get better pricing and offer a kit type set up. Maybe break it up into and engine bay kit, chassis kit, or whole truck, just spitballing. Lets see how much interest there is.

Correct. And if that's the only alternative, I'd be willing to replace it every 10 years as need be. Until someone comes up with a heat-resistant OEM-looking loom.
