speedometer and od not working??

out of no where the speedomiter and odomiter stoped working and im not sure why, i

looked at everyhting, took the cluster out and check it, nothing obvious. it happend

before the 5 speed swap too so thats not the problem. anybody have

this problem and any thoughts on it. thanx. Greg

Check the "BRAKE" fuse...Mine did the same thing when it went out .

ok now i fell stupid. when it stoped working i cheched the fuses. but i just went outside and checked them and the break one was blown, so i must have missed it before. thanx for the info!!

I have the same problem,but in my case the fuse good.Any other thing to check.THANKS.

Mine did that, no fuses bad, no shorts or anything. Just stopped one day, and then blinked back in again 6 months later. :dunno:

So how many possibilities/solutions are there w/this particular issue? Mainly sometimes working speedo and not working odom.?

BRAKE fuse
Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) (RARELY GOES BAD!)
Poor ECM connections
Poor DRAC connections
Bad DRAC
Poor Guage cluster connections (happens alot)
Bad Guage cluster (I seriously doubt it)
You might be parked
Blindness :lol:

DRAC=Digital Ratio Adapter/Controller

Basically your VSS emits a certain number pulse per minute from the rear driveshaft, that signal goes to the DRAC, where it is multiplied/divided depending on wheel/tire size etc. so that the ECM and your guage cluster can decipher it

BTW, the DRAC is the white plastic hoodiss attatched to the ECM casing
