Hey guys
I went and had my Syclone appraised today. My insurance agent recommended I get the truck appraised due to it being a limited production truck. Well, it appraised at $29,000. It’s a very low mileage truck and in showroom condition. So just a heads up, to go and get your SYTY appraised, so the insurance company can’t give you the shaft if something happens.

KBB and NADA puts them around $20k based on condition.

Wow, that's great. Can you list the specs of your truck some more like exact mileage, exact conditions, mods if any, etc?

Now you have to pay extra in insurance? Is your home owners aware of that? I have been wanting to get my truck appraised and it was not worth the extra 5-6k more than blue book. Once I get another truck I have to go that route. To each there own. Sweet value price!

I am going to go into my insurance co. next week so we will see if my rates rise. As for as mods go it has a few. Nothing big, pitbull chip, bob galla turbo to intercooler pipe, rpm exhaust, and mileage is 8700.

I don't know much about insurance but I assume There's No Free Lunch. I.e. if your truck is suddenly "worth" more, the insurance company is likely to raise your premiums to match.

What's the difference between having your truck appraised for $29K versus just calling them up and telling them you want "stated value" of 29K to begin with? I bet the premiums would be the same.

Maybe someone knowledgeable about the auto insurance industry can explain? I have been thinking of changing mine to a higher stated value lately. To me it's probably worth 20-30K just because it actually runs like it's supposed to, and isn't hacked to pieces (plus its in nice shape to begin with).

Stated value policy will be more, since it's a set amount. Car is a total loss, that is the amount of the check. Period, end of story.

With a standard policy, you can have any apprasial you like, but all the insurance company is responsible for at MOST is high KBB/NADA, and even then, you will have to go through hell and back to get that. It took me 7 MONTHS after my ws6 was stolen to get high kbb for the car.

I have over $70K into my truck, and I'm hoping to maybe get a $45K apprasial, and a $45k stated value policy. I'm dreading the insurance costs...

I have my Sy insured for a stated value, I think its $18-19K. The most my insurance agent said I could have without being appraised. I think the additional coverage was little less than $100/year for my Sy, hopefully I will never have to use it.

FYI One thing to remember is that insurance company will not give you any more $ toward the evaluation for performance mods.

According to the last conversation I had with my insurance company, they would do a stated value policy that was within KBB range without an apprasial. Last time I looked it up, the high KBB on a Sy was 20k ish. My Sy was appraised at 30K when I bought it, and they said that if I wanted to do a stated value policy for that amount, they would need to see the apprasial.

But then I blew it up, and it's been in the shop ever since, so no point in a high dollar insurance policy
