Smoke after WOT

So I noticed recently that after a WOT run, my Sy will smoke out of the tailpipe for 5-10 seconds. Anyone else experience this, and any ideas why? Engine is mostly stock, gutted cat, recently replaced entire vacuum system, 80k miles.

oil in exhaust... is my guess. Turbo might be going out! or... might need a valve job. I leaning toward Turbo.

Might be a PCV problem, especially if it started since you've worked on the vacuum system.

Thanks... I'm going to replace PCV valves and cross my fingers.

You can also pull the intake tube going to the throttle body and see if there is any oil in it. Oil in your intake tubes could be a sign of turbo going bad.

Your sucking oil into pcv valve at closed throttle with rpms vacuum pulls oil into manifold. Put a oil separator in line to pcv and manifold. Cured..

I Had the same problem. cure was a oil catch can between pcv valves and throttle body. You can mount it on fire wall or fender. Funny part is I replaced PCV valves with correct A/C syclone part numbers, still had problem. Never any oil in catch can but no more smoke either. I think the high vacume surge of closing throttle at higher RPM's is responsible, I used to use it to **** with people .

That is fixing the symptom, not fixing the problem. The PCV system shouldn't be allowing so much oil into the air intake that it smokes.

Damaged ring land or piston.

Dave Nailed it here quite sure I had a truck out of Ca I bought same symptoms. Tore the engine down and it was a damaged piston and ring land.

I just noticed that there is oil below the turbo on the chassis and there is light smoke coming from the right side. Could there be a problem with the turbo?

The turbo oil return line often leaks so that could be your oil leak source.

Pull the oil filler cap off and rev the motor.Tell us what you see.

I pulled the oil cap off and rev the engine. There a hint of smoke that comes out when I rev.

If you put your hand over the oil fill, is air pushing out?

No air is pushing out when I cover it.

A compression test would be the next step to confirm the engine is wore out or has a bad cylinder
