So im at the World of Wheels car show in Indianapolis, when a serious buyer ask if i would sell him my truck for $20K, i told him the truck really wasnt for sale but his offer was in the ball park and i would get back with him. For those of you that know my truck what do you think? 99k on stock motor.  Im not sure what to do.

Re: Should i Sell?

That is a tough call. You have a very nice truck and $20k is a nice chunk of change. With that kind of cash you should be able to replicate what you have and have some left over for some go fast stuff. Good luck!

To be honest with you, I doubt he would straight up give you 20K. Willing to bet, when its all said and done, he would offer you less. In a world like today, people don't usually stick to their word, and that was probably just a starting point for him. I bet he went home today and did his research on the trucks/values after he talked to you! If he had 20K cash, it would be a hard decision, until he shows up with it, I wouldn't sweat it.

It's a tough call, because you put a ton of work into the truck! I know, I would have to think long and hard to sell my truck for 20K. If you got another one, it would be like starting all over again!

well you did mention that the truck was wrecked before so i'd really think it through and concider how soft the market is for these trucks right now

DITTO Coinsidering that the market value of these trucks is in the gutter right now, $20K definitely isn't "chump change". The offer of $20K established his "high" price for him. Dollars to doughnuts says any additional negotiations will be from there for LESS money.

Bottom line is are you willing to start again from scratch? Buying one of these things these days is a total crap shoot unless the history is well known. If you get another truck, the engine, transmission *or both* may fail and that won't be cheap. If you get a lemon, you could end up spending more money than what you get for yours to be where you are now.

Re: Should i Sell?

98% of the people who make offers on anothers good based solely off of sight are NOT serious buyers. Don't know exactly what you own but $20,000 for a vehicle with close to 100,000 miles is a bit of a giggle (well, for one of these trucks). Then again, who knows.....might be somebody with excess money and an impulse desire. If it were me based off of what is in this thread, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. That truck would have had a new owner IF he were serious.

Thanks for the input, i doubt i sell but we'll see later today. The guy has money longer than train smoke so i think is offer is legit, he is also a friend of a friend. One of his cars at the show has wheels that cost as much as my truck. Anyway...thanks again for your input, here is a pic of my Sy at the show.

...offer to "find him a similar Syclone" for a fee, if you still want to keep yours.
Its a win-win....(if you find a better one, keep it for yourself. if not, sell/refer it to him).

Re: Should i Sell?

It depends on what you want to do. Are you going to recreate your Sy again? Do something different? Keep it stock or are you ready for a change. For my Sy, I wouldn't do it. I would just go out and buy another one, and do a very similiar build, some of the parts are discontinued and would be a major PIA to acquire again. It would cost me more and the time spent wouldn't be worthwhile.

Sell. you could go buy one of those super low mile Syclones out there and have a real nice investment, that needs no work/parts to find. How many people do you find that offer 20k for a 99k stock truck? Very nice looking truck you have, but I'd take the money and run based on given info. You could still end up w/ a replacement that is just as/or nicer. :2cents:

He wasn't showing off in front of some hot girl when making the offer?

If in doubt, keep it,

Re: Should i Sell?

I say sell too with those miles. All depends if you need the $ I suppose. You could buy a lower mileage Sy with <20k miles for $15k-20 but then have to put $5-10k in mods so then you've spent more...and not know the truck....hmmmm.tough one!
