Nick is right. Get Datamaster first. You can download the demo version from here:

http://www.ttspowersystems.com/

You can get a cable for it from Andrew:

http://www.mindspring.com/~amattei/dss.htm

The demo will allow you 20 runs to record. After this you have to buy a license from. Talk to Andrew. Really nice guy.

There is a notebook compability list somewhere, but I've tried it with three different models (on toshiba and two compaqs) and it worked fine in every cases.

HTH,

I think you're mistaking datamaster for diacom... diacom was the old scan tool people used.. it required/only worked on certain types of computers... A list of "diacom" friendly comps is on Richard Le's page http://www.whitetyphoon.com then click labtops for "diacom" compatible labtops..

DataMaster software runs on the Windows 95, 98 or NT4 operating systems and needs 800 x 600 minimum display resolution and one free serial port if data recording is used. It is recommended to have a 90 MHz or better Pentium and at least 32 MB of RAM. DataMaster software requires 10 MB disk capacity for the first installation, and 2MB for each additional version installed.

You might be right. I thought I remeber some issues when people can get in synch with ALDL timing then changed to an other notebook and that one worked. Nevermind...
