I tried to scan the ecm for a code that I was getting.
when I pluged in one of those genaric code scanner that makes the check engine blink
It goes cazy. blinks fast and slow and sometimes steady.
everytime it blinks the relay on the fire wall for the ic pump would click in sink withthe check engine light
I unpluged it and was able to get the stored code -(22)
install the fuse and samething happened
????? thats odd
any input on this?

Re: scanning for codes

The engine light is flasshing codes during this process. Does your generic scanner have a screen? Ive never really used but know that for codes you dont need it. Go to Autozone and get a "key". Some use a paper clip. Jumper the proper ports on the ALDL and you have to count the flashes. It will be something like this. 1 11 1 11 1 11 this is code 12 it tells you the ecm is in field test mode. you just have to count the flashes. Its good to write it down as you go. Every pause means its a different #. If you need more help you can PM me.

Re: scanning for codes

I know that its supost to flash codes but mine
will stay on and flash like a strobe light or just stay on solid . the flashing is insink with the i/c switch in the fire wall
only when i take the relay out on the fire wall for the i/c pump it will blink nice and show code 12 12 12 22 22 22 12 12 12
what would the computer have to do with the i/c pump?
