can you run a walbro with the stock harness or should ordering one be a better idea?

You can but If you look at the racetronix kit you are not getting full voltage to the pump

Walbro is a drop in upgrade by itself.
Some folks have to upgrade the ECMB fuse to a 20A to deal with the skightly increased draw of the W.

Using one of these harnesses with a relay just guarantees you get full voltage at the pump.
The oem fuel pump supply circuit goes through many other junctions that can effect voltage at the pump during WOT.

call it insurance.

I'm running a 7 year old walbro 255 HP with the stock harness, 11.45 @ 117 no problems. I didn't even have to upgrade my fuse.

I do run an alky kit so my fuel draw would be higher if I were to run no alky and 100% gasoline but I've got a feeling the pump would keep up.

so you're the oddball tooky, i could hear a difference in my pump running by upgrading the wiring.

Re: same APFR as GN?

My buddy with the 11.3 Syclone has the same setup as me (stock harness). If the pump can flow 600-700HP fuel but you're only making 300..400..or 500 HP. What's the difference? Yeah if you're going to be making 600+ HP on a single walbro, by all means upgrade the wiring. Otherwise it seems overkill. Thats just the way I operate. The Racetronix kit looks killer for sure - but the guy asked if you can run a Walbro on a stock harness and I can answer that with a resounding YES.

Re: same APFR as GN?

My truck runs good when cold but gets worse when hot. the voltage gauge is only slightly higher than half way when warm. im doing a tuneup and was wondering what could cause that? and what should i look for? i

I think having good system voltage has a LOT to do with success in this area. Low voltage causes higher amperage, with the associated burned connectors. From my observations the guys with a re-located battery, or underdrive pulleys are most susceptible to low-voltage issues.
