A friend of mine swears he knows a guy with a 1991 Chevy S10 SS. Now, I have been a round these trucks for awhile and told him the SS did not come out till 1994. It was a 4.3 Vortec Motor with approx. 195hp 240TQ. I told he was high. He swears it it a '91. I asked him if it is a motor swap with an SS badge and he says it is factory. Whatever!! I get online and verify the '94 SS....Couldn't find jack shit on a 1991 S10 SS....Am I missing something....? I told him about the GMC Sonoma GT and the Sy and even showed him mine. He says it looks just like the Sy but is a chevy s10 and NOT GMC. Help me win this bet becuase I am 99.9999% sure Chevy did not produce a 1991 SS unless he needs his eyes checked and is referring to the full size silverado 454 SS....

Its probabely a 91 cameo, and someone put SS stickers on it.

You are correct about the SS package starting in 94, That was the first year for it. I bought a new 94 SS in feb of 94. Still liked the SGT more, it was quicker stock to stock than the SS. I dont know why though, they had Identical drivetrains.

I had a black 95 ss with headers, cat back, pullies, jet chip and a PI converter. That was a fun truck, especially with drag radials. I remember losing a race to Brian Greens brother in his Syclone ( before he grenaded the motor and sold it to Brian). That was my first taste of the syty world. Been hooked since....
I still miss that SS...
Anyway, your friend is stoned. No such thing as a factory SS unless it is the truck in the pic above.

i've seen that 90 SS before pop up in forums on the s10 forum. I haven't found any info on it really; i've just seen pictures of it. I'm still finding about different s10's and sonoma's; S10 gypsy, s10 cameo, s10 durango, s10 california (i think that is the name of it), s10 baja. I don't know the Sonoma sub models too well.
