Running Sh!tty

I just dropped a new motor in my Sy, along with a TE-60, ATR downpipe and wastegate. I have an AFPR and a Walbro pump. Stock injectors, stall, and chip. Its idling rough and running pretty rough too, popping and missing. It runs best around 2-5 pounds of boost, I wont go over that and it runs bad with no boost. I have datamaster but I keep getting runtime errors and it shuts off. It only stays on long enough that I was able to pull the DTCs. I was throwing code:
13- O2 FAILURE
35- IAC ERROR
43- ESC FAILURE
44- O2 LEAN
Im going to put in a new O2 after work today but other than that Im not sure where to start without Datamaster running right. I know to get the most out of this setup I will need to upgrade some things but I should at least be able to get this running right at 15lbs of boost and below right?

Sure you got the ground right on the back of the driver side head? All of those codes could relate to the O2/ECM ground that goes on the back of the driver head. Was the motor painted? If so you might want to clean the paint off where that ground goes... Just an idea

i had the exact same thing on my truck, found out i had a bad cap and rotor. sounds like a ingition problem.
the codes need further investigation

Re: Running Sh!tty

Thanks, Ill check that tonight. It was painted, thats a good point!
If that's the case I would also check where the neg cable of the battery bolts to the pass head, and where the other ground is on front intake bolt... That's a good place to start.

I checked and all the grounds are good, visibly and with a continuity check with a multimeter.

Re: Running Sh!tty

Heres another question. There are 2 marks on the balancer for timing. Which one is the right mark? Maybe the initial timing is off? The cap is turned pretty far clockwise so that the #1 plugwire is almost too short.

Looking down from the front its the one furthest to the left. In a clockwise rotation it will be the second mark u see in the notch cut .

OK, Grounds are good, timing was set properly and is on the mark, FP is set to 42lbs line off, and I have a wideband that my buddy is going to weld the bung on this weekend.

Re: Running Sh!tty

I replaced the O2 last night. The tip was melted and bent backwards by the flow of exhaust. Ive never sen that happen before. Anyway, the DTCs are gone and it runs better, still not great but better. Anyone know whats the story with Datamaster and when the site will be up and running again?

I am surprised no one has mentioned this but...you have excessive parts on your truck that require a tune. A 60 with stock chip, injectors and stall is not going to work out well. I'd get your combo a little more matched before you go any further:2cents:

Re: Running Sh!tty

I would be more concerned about the stock stall torque converter really hindering power. That turbo will not perform well with the stock TC but that isn't what's causing your problem. Is the motor a stock rebuild?

Re: Running Sh!tty

Thanks for the replys. I know I will need to upgrade TC, inj, chip, ect to get full potential but for now I should still be able to get the truck running properly if Im keeping the boost down, correct?
The motor was a stock rebuild.
Where would I go to fing this crack code for DM? I hvae it downloaded and I still have free trials left but I keep getting a runtime error saying I need to reload the program but its not available on the TTS site right now.

Thanks, I will definately check timing again.

For this setup as it is right now, what should I have FP at? Any reccomendations?

I wouldn't totally agree with that. The turbo, even out of boost is allowing more air through. I am sure you will get around and everything but in my experience it will result in a lot of "choppiness" in driveability situations. Although, every truck is different, you may do just fine.
