Rivets to replace power window motor

Im in the middle of replacing my window motor and want to redo the installation with rivets, not bolts. Does anyone know where I can find the rivets that attach the motor assembly to the door? The largest I can find at Home Depot is 3/16, and this seems too small.

Edit: It looks like they are called peel rivets and 1/4 is the size I need. Is there a way to still use a 3/16 gun/rivet and keep the motor in there tight?

I bought mine at our local paint and body supply store.....they were two different sizes to do the entire job...3/16" and 1/4"..... You'll have to slightly enlarge the holes on the bracket that holds the motor down with a drill bit (3/16").....the one's that hold the assembly to the door are 1/4"....the 1/4" rivet was made for the window motor bracket IIRC.....I think it butterflies or splits into 3, like the plastic rivet we use on our cladding now....good choice for not using nuts and bolts....they loosen up right away...

I see you found out while I typed my response.....good info to have on here anyway..... :lol:

edit: you cannot use the 3/16" to hold the bracket to the door btw...in fact, if you use a regular 1/4" not the split type, it can come loose as well....

I borrowed an air one at my friend's shop....any real body shop should be willing to pop them in for you if your truck is driveable....Just take it over there without door panels and offer them a few dollars....If you're set on buying one, you might try Northern Tool or Harbor Freight for a cheap import model....

Ok, here is my plan:

I am stopping by Harbor Freight Tools tonight and purchasing this:

I called the local GM dealer asking for the 1/4" peel rivets and he directed me to a local fastner shop. I called the shop and they say two rivets are common for GM vehicles. The difference is the grip range. I will just buy four of each type (around $.40 each) and figure out the right one once I get back to the house.

Hopefully, everything will turn out alright. I will update this after the job is done.

Harbor Freight has that cheap one. It comes with rivits and all.
It`s not heavy duty but it works okay.
