replace broken hood cable

has anyone replaced a hood cable? what are the tricks to open the hood? thanks.

where did it break, if the cable is still inside the cab just grab it with a pair of pliars and pull

wow that really blows. my best guess would be to attempt to go through the grille. you may have to remoce the front bumper AND grille to get to the assemby though

Hey mine broke too, my buddy pulled the hood latch cable to open the hood, and it just broke off, so he pulled it out. What's the part going to cost me? How hard is the install? Thanks!

you need to get a skinny flathead screw driver look between the hood and the grill just to the driver side from the middle of the truck you should be able to see the end of the hood cable where it goes on the latch that is bolted to the radiator surpport cover the screw driver with some tape so you dont mess up your paint and try to push to latch and it should pop the hood this happened to my truck and it worked for me let me know how you make out

You can see the latch and where the cable connects in the second pic. That's what you want to push on with a screwdriver.
