Removing Dash

How much work in involved in removing a dash from a Sy or Ty??What all needs to be disconnected from the dash to remove it...

Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove lamp switch trim plate attaching screws, then pull lamp switch rearward and disconnect wiring harness,
Remove A/C and heater control assembly attaching screws, then pull control assembly rearward and disconnect electrical connector.
Remove filler panel attaching screws and filler panel,
Remove instrument cluster housing attaching nuts and cluster housing.
Remove instrument cluster attaching nuts, then pull cluster rearward and disconnect electrical connector and speedometer cable.
Disconnect transmission control cable from steering column, then remove steering column attaching bolts and lower steering column.
Remove ashtray and any wires needed for clearance to remove radio trim plate.
Remove radio trim plate, then the nuts from the support clips,
Remove support bracket retaining screws, then pull radio rearward and disconnect electrical connectors, antenna cable and speaker connectors.
Remove speaker grille attaching screws, then the speakers,
Remove instrument panel attaching bolts and nuts, then pull panel rearward, disconnect all electrical connectors and remove panel.
Reverse procedure to install.

Don't forget to look in the vault. There is some good information in there that members have taken the time to write up if you look...

Look up the article by DaveP on this, there is a much easier way. It involves leaving the instrument cluster in place, and removing the dash with all wiring and fuse panel attached, which is way easier, and the way that the dash was put in the truck in the first place. I have done the removal both ways, and trust me, DaveP's way is so much easier and requires far less work. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll help you search

Remove the fusebox with the dash. If you don't you will most likely play hell with trying to find and place where everything goes. I know, I wish I would have removed my fusebox.

just remember to be gentle and try not to twist too much on the way out, 16 year old dash has a tendency to crack easy.
