Registration Planning

Okay guys, while we'd love to pull this event off for free, that's just not a possibility. So, in order to offer the raffle, trophies, location, and some cool things for us all to do, we're gonna need to charge a registration fee. Obviously, the cost of the aforementioned things will dictate the minimum cost, but I wanted to toss a few questions out there to see what you all think.

Also, no one on the planning committee is pocketing a dime, and anything left over will roll over to the next event and be reflected in either lower reg fees for the next year or a bigger/better event.

So.....

- What all does everyone expect in return when they pay a reg fee? Swag? Coupons? The sheer joy or being around Adam and Me?

- Has everyone been pleased with the cost of other events (Nats, Homecoming, etc...)? Too expensive? Fair priced?

- What about guests? Reduced fee for guests or higher attendee fee and no charge for guests?

As of right now, each registered attendee will receive a goody bag with some cool stuff in it, a ticket to the raffle, a meal on Saturday, and possibly some other stuff. Actual fees haven't been discussed yet, and the rates you see on the website (www.sytyshindig.com) are there just for the heck of it....so, don't go by them, yet.

Any advice or comments are welcome.

Re: Registration Planning

Will a t-shirt be included for the 40-45 dollar registration fee? The Nats fee is higher but it pays for track rental.

Any guests that are HOT should be let in for free. My :2cents:

Re: Registration Planning

Seems to me that there should be some fee for guests. Do they get a goodie bag? Do they eat with the rest on Saturday? Otherwise those who don't bring a guest will be paying for those who do.

Unless the guest looks like one of the Jessica's(Alba, Biel, Simpson), then the fee should be waived-or I'll pay it.

People should expect to pay something. The people who organize these events donate their time, but they shouldn't have to pay for all the little things that most of us don't even know about.

I agree. Charging guests is the only fair way IMO.

Re: Registration Planning

Everyone expecting to eat, recieve a goody bag, and especially take part in the raffle to win free schtuff needs to pay registration. We already have some high dollar items donated that are being given away with even more expected. Only fair way to everyone.

Just so everyone knows, registration covers some of the bigger things like:

Shirts
Food (buying or catered)
Trophies
Misc expenses (putting together baggies, banners, getting things printed/made, etc)

As Hood mentioned previously, no one putting this event together is taking any money out of this... what is left over and not used will go into coordinating the event again to make it bigger and better or some sort of syty related cause like helping sytynet server/hosting fees and upgrades. Whatever the case, know that no one personally is benefiting $ wise.

I sorta like the extra $5 idea if you intend on bringing a truck and dont..... you gotta pay up when you come up and register. Money could be donated to the person who has the most expensive breakage during the event....if no one breaks anything (ppffft, yeah right), then it could be raffled off
