Re: Red sy # 1364

I just got a call from the guy who had it on ebay. He said he sold it back to Toy Barn, aka
Vader Sy.
As for the paint under the cladding, I saw black clearly behind the rocker cladding on the passenger side @ the cab corner. Maybe it rubbed through? I dont know.

That's funny that John bought it again. This might be the 3rd time.

It's listed for sale on Ebay again via his shop. The Toy Barn.

Re: Red sy # 1364

Good afternoon guys! I have owned quite a few Syclones and Typhoons over the years. This one is my favorite. I purchased the Sy from Nate (ndburli) a few years ago. Strong running truck and had a lot of more updated features that I really enjoyed and most people would probably laugh at for example the power antenna and stereo that I could connect to my iPhone. Those were awesome to me. During the time I owned the truck I met Dave (RedSy) who owned the truck originally. Shared a lot of stories and history about the truck.

During my ownership:

When I purchased the Sy from Nate, I had never seen it. I was completed surprised once the truck arrived from the covered trailer. The Syclone was beyond my expectations. I have a had all the records from ndburli and extra parts. My intent was to keep this one. I told Nate if I were to sell it, I would call him. I failed in that respect. Keep reading.

The Syclone was driven often (think I bought it April or May). I enjoyed driving it. Truck ran and drove really good. Ndburli included a car cover and the truck when not being driven or stored the cover was on the truck. I waxed and washed the truck countless times. This Syclone had tons of eye ball. People would take notice.

There is a thread where I raced the Syclone a few times in a night. The truck ran 13.2's and it only had a chip on it. Pretty strong.

One of my technicians whom races turbo Buicks and has a strong reputation on turbo Regals/Buicks works on my Syclone (#380)and I had him go through this one. Everything he recommended to replace I did. I replaced the radiator, water pump, fuel pump, radiator hoses, brakes pad, rotors, MSD distributor, cap/rotor, plugs, plug wires, the list is huge. For performance minded folks, I did replace the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump (mentioned above) and put on a turbo tweak chip and a race proven cold air intake with electric fans. I kept all the original parts with the ones I received from Nate. I also purchased a stock turbo from Tom at Sportmachines. The turbo had a different stainless steel wheel and was modified for quicker spool. I also bought a new Forge waste gate. The turbo and waste gate are still here with me and never made it on the truck. Read below for why.

The Sale:

During the period I owned the Syclone, one of my good clients whom is a huge car fanatic and muscle car buff would come in once a week and talk Syclones. After a few weeks he wanted me to find him one and joked to me about selling my Syclone #1364 to him. He was looking for a Syclone with 40k-50k miles in the mid teens. Reasonable. He wanted service records and historical/owner documentation. I started looking for him and his requirements. I found a few but he passed on all of them for various reasons. He kept poking at me asking to buy Syclone #1364. I declined. Over the next few weeks he kept asking. I told him a number that I thought would put it to bed. The following week he brought a check in.

I had one condition. He must contact me first if he was going to sell it. I promised that I would buy it back from him if he were to sell it. It was too nice for it to go to a non enthusiast. He agreed.

I explained to him that the truck was extremely special and promised to give him the all the parts, documentation and information I had on the truck. I even wrote out a list of stuff for him to monitor (boost, electric fan operation, and chip information etc.) I detailed it myself Friday morning. He picked it up that night. I still have the license plate on my garage wall.

1st Owner After Me:

The Syclone's new home was in Lancaster Ohio, about 45 mins away from where I lived (southeast of Columbus). Many of my clients commented about a red Syclone they saw in car shows and around town. He called me a couple times about a few things. I was happy to answer all his questions. Frankly, glad he asked!

My Second Ownership:

I'm guessing in late February or March he called me again. Thinking it was a question about the Syclone I answered. "Ready for it back?" True to our agreement, I quickly said, "When can I get it?" He had bought a new Corvette and his wife would not let him have the truck and the new Vette.

I think I either called or emailed Dave (Red Sy) about it and wanted to know if he wanted his old truck back. For me, the timing was bad. I had my hands working on lots of stuff and didn't have the time nor space for it. During this time, it might have been titled in my name for a month or so. I would have to run a carfax to see.

I sold it to my business, Toy Barn. 6-7 days later of being in inventory a fellow bought it who lived in Mansfield, Ohio.

3rd Owner

From this point on I know very little other than the phone calls I received about the truck on ebay from where he was trying to sell it after he bought. People were asking me questions about the Syclone. Unfortunately, he isn't skilled in selling automobiles and his ebay listing was not favorable. Despite the enormous amount of wrong information, I believe this changed the outlook on the Syclone.

Again, the carfax will tell you how long he owned, but it wasn't long. My impression that I received from talking to my sales manager was he really couldn't afford it. He would stop in from time to time talking to my sales manager. Keep in mind, I have never talked to the man that owned it, this is just my speculation.

I did buy it back from him I believe in November or December. I won't be surprised if I end of keeping it :)

If someone would like more information on the history, I am the best one to talk to or shoot me a PM.
