So I head out to go get some ice during US Nationals in Indy this past week. This was Friday I think. So I turn onto the road thats on the west end of IRP, I mean ORP, whatever. Sittin in this trailer park is a beautiful red/red Ty. So I bust a u turn and head back. Pull up next to it, and there a guy in his 60s probably in it. So I start to talk to him. His brother in law bought it. Whether he bought it new or used, I don't know, he said it was his pride and joy for a long time, so I imagine probably purchased new. Not registered on sportmachines either, so add another original red/red to the books. Anyways, his brother in law died last year, so he took it. New owner knows nothing about them. I told him I had a Garnet Red one, and he imediately jumped out of the truck wanting me to drive it because the "blower" was making noise, and it shifted really hard. I'm like, dude, I don't even know you, I'm not driving your truck, yet. Told him the hard shift is normal, but would have to hear the TURBO noise to see if it's normal or not. So he proceeds to tell me that he has something like 14 vettes, including a C6 Z06. Guy lives about 20 mins north of me. His brother in law was from Cali, and it still had CA plates on it. Only 21k miles. Not a rock chip or scratch on it. Engine compartment looked brand new. But here's the deal. Chrome ZR1 wheels, cross-drilled rotors, Borla exhaust, and a Kenne Bell cold air intake. The owner knows nothing about them, so he told me the next time the local syty people get together, to let him know and he'll bring it out. So we go back to the track. He was meeting some friends that were racing out there. I go back to the trailer to get my camera to take a couple pics of it. Only 2.

Nice find! The only other Sy I've 'found' i left a note on and the owner never contacted me. Which is probably okay, because he didn't look like the chatty type. :rotf:

This guy was pretty nice. I'm dying to go see what he has in his garage. He gave me his business card with his cell and email. Which I'm about to email him in a few to see what other info I can get from him on the truck. I asked him if he had heard of the site, and he said he doesn't know how to use the internet. Told me to email or call him when we get together. Said it might take him awhile to respond to the emails because he doesn't know how to use email either, he has someone else do it for him.

There's plenty of SyTy's running around Indy.. There are 2 pace trucks (syclone) still here in town (last I heard).

There was a monochrome Pewter-ish/gold colored Typhoon over by me. I saw a black/black towing a big ass Uhaul trailer down raceway one day... (the 700r4 had to be glowing)...

Sad part is, there isnt alot of ACTIVE people, then again, the mentality of this board at times.. Who can blame 'em ?

Be sure to link him here.

Nice Ty, too!

I tried, he said he doesn't know how to use internet. He's in his mid 60s I would guess.

Nice find JJ. You Indy guys need to get your trucks running (cough Todd/JJ cough) by next year and have a get together, sounds like it would be a good turnout.

On a side note, the US Nationals was a blast. We made it over there on Sunday this year and didn't even drive around for an hour lost in the cornfields like we did last year... can't ever get enough of watching 4 second passes!

You should have called me. I lost in the 4th round on Sunday night. We were there all day cooking out and had probably 3 of the 10 cases of beer left. What gate did you come in? If you came in gate 4, we were parked right there with the Camaro and Chevelle. Camaro is sold is going bye bye next week. Chevelle might be sold as well.

And as far as my Ty getting together. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm It's gonna be awhile. Need to buy another race car.

I tried to call Todd on the way over to Indy to get directions and your cell number but I could never reach him. I thought I may run into you but there were a LOT of people there.

It was a great time, though. I'll be there again next year.

Next time you talk to him find out where in Calif his brother in law lived. The Typhoon looks familiar.
