question on a clone

i was looking at buying a typhoon, everything look orginal if it was a clone it was a good one. but i ran carfax and it came up listed like this.
1992 GMC JIMMY S15
VIN: 1GKCT18Z3N0505748
2 DR WAGON SPORT UTILITY
4.3L V6 FI
4 WHEEL DRIVE


do they come up as typhoons? is there something i can check to identify it as a clone to real other then the obvious? thank guys

A carfax will state GMC Typhoon, GMC Syclone or GMC Sonoma GT.
Anything else is a clone.

not always 100% but the last 4 of the V.I.N. too. "5748" is not a Typhoon vin.

You'll see a pattern in the last 6, 80,xxxx (Sy), 81xxxx (Ty), or 82,xxxx (SGT). There are limited few exceptions to those sequences, but it's a good first clue.
