Prepping "Dry" Carbon Fiber for Clear

LIL QIK

HELL YEA I GOT BOOST!
Hoping someone here can help me out with this. But I've got a dry (pre-preg) roof panel that I'm trying to get prepped for clear. Has anyone here messed with dry carbon fiber before. Is it one of those things where I can just clean it up with a red scotch-brite pad? Do I go over it with 400-600 paper? I've never jacked with these kinds of panels and would appreciate someone's guidance. And no....this isn't for a syty....but I remember some of you dealt or created carbon fiber pieces before....

This is actually a roof panel for my ZL1 Camaro. I'm pulling the sun roof and roof panel out of my car and installing a non sunroof panel and headliner in. The new panel is a carbon fiber roof. It was a bit pricey and would just rather not screw it up....lol

Thanks guys....

Dave

Re: Prepping "Dry" Carbon Fiber for Clear

Thanks Dave.... Much appreciated. Yea...if you don't mind asking that would be great. I'm not planning on removing my roof for a few weeks. Still in the process finishing up the motor and power adder swap. The roof is going to be the last thing that I do. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row...so to speak. But yea...that's one of the reasons that I was thinking maybe just hitting it with the scotch-brite pad. Figured that I couldn't do any real damage with that....lol. It's funny that I can't find much info on how to prep this for clear on the internet... I find plenty of article and threads of painting already cleared carbon hoods and stuff....but nothing on dealing with the raw hoods or panels...
