Porsche 928

In scenic Pluckemin today. On the way to pick up my car-pool buddy. Going south on 202, it's 2 lanes at the light at the edge of Pluckemin. The right lane is kind of an FU lane because it turns into a right-turn only lane just before you go under Rt. 287. So if you're there, you gotta merge. 99% of the folks stay to the left. People like me get in that lane to see what they can stir up. I couldn't see what was up there, but I could see it was wide open. Squeezed past the traffic and rolled up to the light. Holy moly it's a Porsche 928. It's one of the older ones, but in really nice shape, but I knew it wasn't too quick. I hung back by his 1/4 hoping to stay out of sight. He saw me, though - saw him checking his side view. I start building some boost. Light turns green and I let off the brake a bit but not all the way to see what he's going to do. He nailed it and I let off the brake and floored the Ty. No contest. I put about 2 cars on him to 70 and easily merged left. Of course now he's pissed and riding my ass at 75 in a 45. Having made my point, I got back into the right lane once the right-turn-only part ended. He blew by my even though I was going close to 80. I pointed and laughed, but he was less amused than I was.

It's always nice to waste a snobby Porsche driver, even if it is a 12-15 year old pig-heavy Porsche with less than 300 HP.

I also wasted a big ass blue Dodge diesel on the way home. Big "got boost" across the back window, "ram air" hood, and like a 5" diameter tail pipe. I've seen him around before, too. License plate frame says "If you can't Dodge it, Ram it". Nice. Put him waaaaaaaaaay behind me (though in front of me would've been safer, but we can't have that).

Hey, we're not all snobby, some of us even own Typhoons :wink:

Actually I met a guy randomly who owns both a 928 and a typhoon (as I do) who moved out here to Cali. He's now my neighbor and we're the "evil car guys" in the neighborhood, trying not to draw too much attention with the noise. Heh.

But yeah, 928's are a PITA to launch with their 2:20 rear end, and if it was an old one, they are quite slow. On the other hand, the 6.5 liter stroker cars are quite fast to say the least, i.e. 210 on radar, all day. Holy s#uh.

No, you're not all snobby. I find the snobbiest ones are the Boxter owners, which is ironic because they're the cheapest new Porsche. This guy had the look, though. Looked like a snob. The car was absolutely pristine, probably one from his collection that needed the dust blown off it.

Or, he could've been a really cool guy with a nicely maintained Porsche. Either way, he got his ass kicked and was unhappy about it.
