Pocket programmer & Windows XP

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get a pocket programmer to work with windows XP? I've tried everything and keep getting the "can't find pocket programmer on LPT1, LPT2, LPT3." I burned a few chips yesterday on a friends computer with Win 98 so I know the programmer works, just not with XP.

It may not be compatible with XP. I would also install Win 98 and run a dual boot. There is information at Microsoft's web site on how to run dual boot, if you are interested.

I've got it working under windows 2000 professional. The software claims it will not work on XP, although I haven't tried it. I'd call these people http://www.in-ks.com/ and see if there is possibly a newer version of the software. Good Luck!

Yep tried that, didn't work, maybe I'll try the dual boot method. Thanks guys

FYI, the Win9x install will overwrite all the boot sector stuff. If you do 9x then NT, it'll make a nice boot menu with both options. If you do NT then 9x, it'll just dump the 9x boot sector over whatever's there. There should be a KB article telling how to get the NT menu back after 9x overwrites it...

Here's your fix.......

When you start the DOS program, hit CNTRL+ENTER to go to full screen, then hit "press any key to continue"

Then it will find the port. If you keep it in windowed mode, it won't work.

Since XP isn't DOS based, it has a hard time doing direct communications from DOS to your peripherals. So you just need to run full screen for it to trigger the direct commands.

I ran the Pocket Programmer before my TopMax, and had it working on XP that way.

I have a pocket programmer 2 and it works great with with windows xp. So I'd say it is something else.
