Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

Communication!!!! That is the word of the day. I will not mention names, but I am sure you will all agree that we need better communication when it comes to buying and selling here. After seeing that someone has a good reputation as far as buying and selling, you send them your hard earned money to buy some much needed parts from them. Now, 11 days later, after repeated attempts to contact(e-mail, PM, etc) with no response, and still no parts in sight, what is a person to do????

Judging by their posted reputation as being great to buy, sell and trade with, I am sure there is a perfectly good explanation but I have yet to even get that. I am a very understanding individual up until the point at which I start to feel like I have been ripped off. What would you do in my shoes?? I am not here to jump the gun and tarnish someone's reputation prematurely, but I have over $300.00 out there and nothing to show for it and no word as to whether it is even on the way to me.

Why can't we communicate!!???!?! A poor excuse is better than none!!

HHHHEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!! :( :( :( :(

Agreed

Agreed

There is liitle that you can do as far as I am concerned. There is nothing quite like 2 people being face to face exchanging goods for currency. Anything less and its just a risk. I felt recently a little taken advantage of but the time and energy it takes to recover takes more than to just move on. I just hope that the seller decides to do the right think and thats it.
Good luck

Because it's an internet transaction and they have a great rep, you should def wait until you hear back from that person. I know it sucks, but something legit could have/probably did come up. :2cents:

Buying and selling long distance isn't always the easiest/fastest thing to do. I have more money than that tied up into some heads right now that I've never seen, sometimes you just need to be patient... It's worse if you are dealing across borders.

Re: Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

I'm inclined to say that there is absolutely no excuse for not being in touch with someone when you have their money. It doesn't take more than 30 seconds to reply to an email just to make someone feel a little more comfortable about a situation. I've been there many a times and it gets pretty irritating that someone doesn't have the decency to do this....then you have to call them.....and ofcourse it pisses you off more when they don't answer the phone. When you have someone's money.....you owe them communication to say the least. Just my opinion though.

Re: Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

I am in the mind that the seller should be answering you. I have however, seen some people on here go through some rough times, no communication at all and something legit did happen and the buyer did get thier stuff. Ild let it go till you hear something. If you hear NOTHING after 30 days Ild get pretty pissed. Some people have good intensions just get caught up.

Is it one of the SyTy vendors? Chances are they will pull through, because they arent in the dog house and many people make transactions with them successfully.

Re: Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

Unfortunately this seems to be an ongoing trend these days :(. Which is a shame since you used to be able to trust folks on the board to "do the right thing" for the most part. Some sellers seem to think that once they get YOUR money, it is ok to make you wait for weeks or even months for YOUR parts that you BOUGHT from THEM. Of course if the roles were reversed, they would moan, groan bitch and complain about not getting what they paid for too. Isn't it funny how these folks won't treat other's how they would like to be treated themselves? That says A LOT about the person who you are dealing with. If you can make the effort to give them some of your hard earned money, they should be able to make an effort to send your stuff.

In closing, I would encourage everyone to take FULL advantage of the Trader Rating on the forum. It is here to help you when you are dealing with someone who you may have never met before. If you have a poor transaction with another member, SAY SO! Don't fail to leave a rating or "sugar coat" a transaction that was neutral or negative just because you are relieved that you didn't get screwed. That is the only way other folks will know what to expect when dealing with the individual in question. Those who aren't able to uphold their end of a deal will be reflected in their track record. Bad transactions now should carry the consequence of possibly no transactions in the future if they can't deal in an acceptable manner

Re: Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

I went through this exact scenario the other day and thankfully it all worked out alright.

I would encourage you to be patient but only up to a point. Paypal (assuming you used them) will not allow you to pursue a matter after 45 days then they enter a period of arbitration.

Different people have different ideas of what is reasonable to wait. Personally, if I have paid money and don't hear back within 24 hours then I start to get a bit pissed. Mike's post above is very true. YOU should expect to be treated in the manner that you would treat someone else.

I hope it works out for you but 11 days is stretching the bounds of reasonable delay. PM them and let them know you will highlight their poor performance to the board. If they do have a good rating then the chances are that they don't want it tarnished. Flame threads whilst ideally the last resort do seem to spur people on a bit.

Good luck mate.

Could be good to wait a few more days... I was asking a member here about some parts he had for sale, and then I haven't heard from him for about the same number of days... could be he has a family emergency or something we don't know about. Give it another weekend then maybe post a 'has anyone seen' this member post, if it happened here.

On what Mike said....this is why we have trader ratings, the doghouse, and also do not let noobs post stuff for sale until they have a set amount of posts. Its the internet, its the risk you take when you buy/sell....just sucks more when something goes wrong in our very small group. Most everyone knows everyone on here in some form or another. Its up to us to support and look out for each other.

Unless he is the hospital, there is no excuse why he can't reply to you back.
Its your money, you have all right to be piss.

Re: Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

Thanks foreveryone's input. I appreciate it all. I will be patient and wait it out. I did pay with Paypal, covered there.

Sucks being the "new guy" here but rest assured I have been bitten by the Sy Ty phoenomenon and I am here to stay! I respect each and every one of you as comrades with a shared interest.

I hope to get even deeper to the SY Ty scene and even though my Ty isn't real, you'd never know until you looked at the vin plate. It is a 99.9% clone of a 93 white/white Typhoon with donated mechanicals from a scrapped out Syclone. Interior is correct in every way(except the parts I am waiting for) however, since it is based on a 87 Blazer, the rear ceiling mounted seatbelts are not there( the other .1%). Only the lap belts. Minor detail in my opinion.

I will post the results of my transaction when it concludes.
Thanks!

Re: Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

I've brought the "communication" thing up a time or two myself.

the consensus seems to be that if the seller gets YOUR money then the buyer (YOU) should be happy and not ask any questions. this is ESPECIALLY true for sellers that are known as SY/TY supporters/vendors.

seller/vendors are busy and can't really spend time answering questions. Wait a couple more weeks/months/years....

good luck

Re: Please bear with me!!! I need to VENT!!!

I would much rather deal with a time delay issue than a "goods not being in the condition described".
The bottom line is "Karma". Do the right thing.

I totally agree with your sarcasm. I don't care who these vendors are, they still have the BASIC (and legal) OBLIGATION to provide the goods/services they advertise in a reasonable manner.

It's funny when I hear some of the vendors complain about Summit Racing, but what they really need to do is take a clue from how Summit Racing does business. Summit is a "REAL" business that actually takes your orders seriously when they arrive. You don't have to ****ing babysit them and constantly call back to make sure they 1.) got your order, and 2.) got your order accurately, no matter how hard or how explicitly detailed your original order was.

Where else does Summit Racing succeed where many vendors fail?

A.) When Summit gets your order, you get immediate email confirmation showing what you ordered, and what the status is.

B.) When Summit ships your order, you get immediate confirmation of the tracking numbers and shipping methods for each package.

C.) If Summit is out of stock or there's a problem with your order, *THEY* contact *YOU* by sending you an email or a POSTCARD apologizing and explaining when the item may actually arrive. No more sleepless nights wondering if some "SoCal" ASSHOLE is going to give you any satisfaction or just decide to steal your parts and your money!  :bigfinger

Now do I expect a 1 person shop to send me postcards? Absolutely not. But if they are holding onto a chunk of my money, it sure would be nice for THEM to initiate some COMMUNICATION to let me know if they've FAILED to meet their obligations for some reason.... I take MY money really ****ing seriously!

The bottom line is a lot of small vendors don't seem to take their business very seriously.. but Summit does, and they will continue to receive business from people who actually want their parts in a timely manner without any "babysitting"..

PS: I have *never* placed a telephone call to Summit in my life, and I've made dozens of orders through them. It's simple really. I order the product, they deliver it.

People who use excuses build monuments next to nothing, bridges to nowhere, and those that use these tools of incompentence become masters of nothing... is that how you feel? :)
