Re: pending announcement

Thank you Morgan. We "communicated" with each other. When this thread began yesterday, I had not a clue who the people of "SyTyNationals" were. Now I have 4 names.

I sent Mark a couple of PM's this evening. I had a response composed to his post here, and chose to keep those thoughts off the board for now. He and I had a productive exchange. Please open my PM's and take a look. I have some ideas, and can probably come up with more.

Thanks again for the low-key, objective response.
Well I made a post at 3:40am, not sure where it went but nevertheless, you are the only person who has an issue with "SyTy Nationals". Like I told you LAST YEAR, there is a purpose for it. The screen name was created back in like 2003 or 2004, why has it taken you 12+ years to all of a sudden have a problem with it? I don't get it. Nobody is hiding and for you to say "I had not a clue...." is complete crap because you rambled off nearly everyone involved in your previous post like you were reading it off of a script, so you damn well know and you clearly have a clue, stop playing stupid because you are not good at it, stick to being the intelligent, detailed guy we know, it suits you best.

Oh, and you have 5 names that you wrote, not 4.

Morgan,

Shot you a PM

Ill check that shortly.

Re: pending announcement

I've been to all of the Homecoming and Nats events since I got my Ty back 11 years ago 'cept for the Colorado event. And IMO it's a site to see 50+ SyTy's in one place together. That alone is worth it, then add in racing and meeting fellow SyTyers who really know all the ins and outs of these rare trucks. After attending a few, it's nice too see people again, and who notice the subtle changes I made to my truck since the last meet. Really, I just love jumping in my Ty and making the trek, even driving alone to all but one. As mentioned the last BG event....the weather was just terrible, but no one control of that. I know it takes a lot of time to set up an event, and I'm always sure to thank everyone for doing this. I knew when I got my truck that these are rare and will never have the numbers of a GN, or Camaro/Mustang group. For me, that's what I love about SyTy's. I really like being the only one at a car show or cruise in....or if there is another SyTyer...great, but they prolly came with me. I look forward to the update and hope to attend again.

I'm available to help in whatever way I can. Either PM me or email or text or call or send carrier pigeon or smoke signals.

Re: pending announcement

This may be the only chance for me to go to a national so I'm certainly thinking about it. My wife is not terribly excited about that many miles in the Sy because of the rough ride. I'm not excited about putting that many miles on the truck. I have possible access to a trailer and beautiful Denali tow vech. Whither the owner is interested I'd have to ask. I've been blessed with being able to use it in the past.

Although we'd be "the old fogies" in the group I'm sure we'd have a good time. We're just not big on late night parties. No biggie.

Bottom line, we're thinking seriously of coming.

Re: pending announcement

Speaking for myself, BG 13 was a disappointment. The weather didn't help, but it appeared to me that it was organized on-the-fly. Renz made it up as the weekend progressed. Without Hood's impromptu auto-x, Nats13 would have been a complete flop. A nothing-burger. I doubt I'm alone in my opinion that without an improvement in the planning and enthusiasm on the part of the organizers over what was evident for Nats13, 16 won't be much different.
:squint:

I take full responsibility for it raining all weekend and making all of our planned outdoor activities not make sense to do since no one wants to stand outside in a monsoon.

All of the great raffle prizes were not produced on the fly. The incredible family style dinner we did at the Federal Grove (probably my favorite 'event' of any nationals ever) was not reserved or cooked for on the fly. The catered show and shine was not reserved on the fly.

All of the awards fabricated specifically for NATS were not done on the fly.

thankfully...you don't speak for everyone in attendance of '13

Again, I had a blast, and am glad I participated. Thanks to everyone that attended, and those that participated vicariously through the "eye candy" thread. Without attendees, there wouldn't be an "event".

I wasn't going to bother responding to your post...but since you called me out as if I caused the event to crash I felt the need to speak up on my own behalf. It would have been a much different event had it not rained all weekend. But it rained...and there is only so much you can do as a car club when you can't do anything what you were planning on doing.

As for 2016....the committee has been hashing out plans and ideas for more than you realize. It's not all publicized because there is no point in involving the entire community in all the fine details, Otherwise there would be way too many opinions trying to steer the event. Thus why a committee is formed to have the entire community's interest in mind as they develop and create the event.

Re: pending announcement

I had a great time at Nats 13 despite the weather. It was fun just to hang out and shoot the shit with some guys that like these trucks as well as I do. Thanks to whomever organizes these events, as I understand that they are only doing it to make other folks happy and allow folks to have a good time, while asking nothing in return.

Re: pending announcement

Do you have a list of locations to be at?
I'm looking forward to it and hopefully KC!

Re: pending announcement

KC will never happen again most likely, KCIR was closed and now sits abandon with weeds growing up all around the track.

there is no list of locations. I believe there was a thread made a while back where people could post information and suggestions on tracks. They were ALL taken into account and information was correlated in comparison to the location/distance information we got from owners who were interested in going.

Tracks as far north as Indy, as far west as Topeka, as far south as Savannah and as far east as Cecil County, MD.

If you can think of a track in between all of that, it was on a list at some point over the past 365+ days.

Re: pending announcement

page 3 and still no announcement!!!

BORING!

Sorry, we actually had some new information pop up today.

1. found out our previous contact at the hotel no longer works there. We are dealing with someone new, but the hotel appears to be no problem.

2. we found out that another car club might be in town for a different event so we just want to make sure all track situations are looked at as to not have conflicts or long waits.

again, this ALL just popped up this afternoon
