Re: PAS inspection sheets....
Thanks Ken & Tony. Reviewed the sheets quickly. Will do so more in depth with my magnifying glass for that one page that has very small printing. The mag. glass is in the other room with the felt tip tweezers.
Anyway, on the subject of the back glass. I know some exist but obviously we all do not have it. A few ideas on this. I can't imagine that a truck rolled out without back glass. I can't imagine that someone designated that Sy's get gold glass and then only some actually get the install. I'll go with Dig on that they grabbed what was available when the vehicle was at that point (it happens more often than you would think). With this in mind, what was the original application where gold glass was specified. There had to be some at the plant for someone to grab. What possible S-10 series truck specified gold glass and for what purpose. Gold tint is an odd ball for early 90's but there had to be an "engineering" reason.
I see exhaust manifolds and downpipe and studs on the list. By the Ty video, these were on the engine when it was on the line but not yet in the vehicle so PAS just checked to make sure they were there and not some regular LB4 140hp stuff. Seems they had to make sure it was really going through as a full blown Sy. Guess they had great faith in the line (haha).
Sequence and VIN have no relation. The vehicle is produced and goes outside and waits for transportation. I think is has been discussed without question that these trucks were produced on the line with regular production S series trucks. One here, one there. That's why we have production dates that range over the year. So it goes out into the lot and waits. They don't get transported in the same order they came out the door. PAS tags the vehicle when it gets to their place. First come, first serve. The following can also be a factor. They get driven onto the transporter. In what order? Don't think a driver looked at VIN's to load in a certain order, just looked to make sure he had the correct truck. They get off loaded and parked. The PAS employee must tag them with a sequence #. Again, first come first serve. They did not go around looking for VIN's to match to their sequence #'s. Time is money and these guys don't have time to think that much.
Who had the jig to drill on a Sy for the cladding. By the Ty video, GM did the Ty's.
PAS makes notes for poor fitment. Guess they noted it and never did anything about it. There's that time is money thing again, Too much time to have a redo or adjustment for fitment. It's on, it's tight, get it out the door.
Thanks again Ken & Tony.
