Who all has the latest Ostrich 2.0 (the very small one) and how is it working out for you?
If it works, how did you configure it in Tunerpro?

Re: Ostrich 2.0

I physically own the very first ver. 2 with bluetooth. Met Craig in person at an event, great guy even greater products.

Ostrich and tunerpro play very nice toghether. Shouldn't be really anything you need to do.

I think Tooky has the older version which is proven to work....
I'm referring to the Ostrich 2.0

I've been speaking with Craig Moates and Mark from Tunerpro and we're trying to figure out if it's a hardware or firmware issue.

The issue is, when I verify the emulator ram against current bin (and the checksum is checked-disable mode) the verify fails, but when the checksum is unchecked it does actually verify (which is noted as successful) but the truck goes into limp mode. Keep in mind the bin and xdf files uploads and downloads were successful...

I also tested an older Ostrich with the exact same equipment and bins with the same configuration and the emulation varified with the checksume checked and unchecked..

So I wanted to know if anyone is using the Ostrich 2.0 with any success and what configuration worked, so I know weather or not its a hardware or firmware issue.

Re: Ostrich 2.0

I've got the 2.0 at the pass floor light opening in the lower dash so I can plug in easily. I have had no problems. TunerPro connects reliably every time.

Yeah you know how us fast guys are, aways trying to get a little more out of her...

So Phil, how is your Ostrich 2.0 configured in Tunerpro?
Is the checksum checked or unchecked or does it work in both modes and what is your Mask ID set at?
Thanks.

What happens when you leave the checksum enabled and have the correct checksum in there?

My bet... in/output buffers on your ostrich are whacked/marginal. The pocket romulators had weird problems like this sometimes. Repalce the buffers, and whammo, it works.

What happens when you run your ostrich on somebody else's truck? Same thing?

Re: Ostrich 2.0

checksum says "5E8E" HEX and mask id says "AA" HEX. Tunerpro detected the 2.0 when connected. I didn't have to do anything special.

Phil/Dig/Mark/Craig Thanks for the suggestions.
I made sure the mask ID was set to "AA" and "unchecked" (enabled) the checksum, loaded code 59 and it started up without limp mode.
Also, my pin selector wasn't set for the 32 pin emulation cable that I'm using, which could have been the issue as well...

Re: Ostrich 2.0

OK, help.

My truck goes into limp mode. but not directly after a BIN load.

my Ostrich 2.0 loads the BIN, and verifys it fine. and i can drive around great.

but after about 3-4 restarts (truck restart, not ECM). the truck goes into limp mode, and runs pig rich.

but as soon as i reload a BIN, its fine again.

BTW, for my limp mode, the ALDL shutsdown. I get a "CheckEngine" light, but i cant connect my code reader, or TP, cause the ALDL is out of service.

sucks cause i gotta carry my laptop with me everywhere. Incase it happens, i reload the BIN and keep going.

any ideas.

FYI, checksum is EF0D, and Hex is AA. my Ostrich is set to 28.

Sounds like your Ostrich is configured correctly.
I'd make sure your emulation cable is seated properly to the G1 and the Ostrich. I'd also test your ecm to see if it's loosing connection. Your Ostrich could have a short in it as well (how was it mounted?)

Re: Ostrich 2.0

all the connections are secure. the emulation cable is cushioned with foam under the ECM cover. and the Ostrich is in the glovebox.

Re: Ostrich 2.0

is there a certain process for loading the BINs, i just upload, verify, then close TP, unplug from the Ostrich, then unplug the USB.

could it have a bad battery?

once i load a BIN, i can sit in the truck, not moving, start and shutoff 3 to 5 times, and it'll go into limp mode. without driving, or moving. the connections cant be coming loose, cause there's no vibration from the truck moving. hmmm

Re: Ostrich 2.0

Not sure if the new 2.0 has batteries or not, never had mine open yet. Would be worth opening it up and looking and changing it out to see if that fixes the problem.
