Open exhaust

How open are you meaning? By your signature your still running a stock turbo I assume. With the stock turbo you should keep your cat on or you will overboost unless some external wastegate is used. Before I got my PTE setup I was running a 3" cat and strait 3" pipe (no muffler) that dumped right before the rear axle and it worked and sounded pretty good. So basically you need to keep your cat and run a strait 3" pipe to exit wherever you want it. Any muffler shop should be able to do that. But, depending on where you live they may not let you run without a muffler, but its beyond me how they think that a muffler is a emissions device. Thats what's nice about where I live, we don't even have to get inspected anymore! :D

True, if you have the stock turbo and wastegate, you will need to modify the wastegate or go to an exterternal wastegate before removing the cat and really going to an open exhaust.

Once you have done that, a 3" cut out at the bottom of the downpipe with an electric exhaust valve works very well. Someone dyno tested the cutout and exhaust valve a while back and saw a 15 hp increase when the valve was opened.

What's neat is you can open and close it anywhere from 0 - 100% from the driver's seat. A single 3" exhaust valve with all wiring and switch is $179.00. Requires a 3" cutout to be welded in the downpipe.

Note: The standard bolts that come on most cutouts are not long enough. They may be usable but it's best to replace them with longer stainless bolts before welding the cutout to the downpipe. It makes mounting the exhaust valve much easier.

I have one on my Ty and I have a duel set-up on my Sierra C3.

I'll see if I can get a pic of the C3. It will be a couple weeks before I see the Ty again.

I carry them but only have one in stock at this time. I can get them made in about a week.
