One FAQ Please

I think that is a great idea - let's put it in the FAQ :smile:
No really, I have heard the same thing. I realize you can't put EVERYTHING in the FAQ but there is a certain level of things that can be put in there. There is a lot of information that people are holding and willing to give it up if the opportunity presents itself. I know there are a lot of topics that were covered in great depth (sometimes too much) that have been lost for whatever reason.
I don't know your thoughts for http://www.chitownsyty.com are but it might be cool if we made that another area for people to get information besides pics of our trucks and TTAs. I know there are certain members :smile: who already have a lot of things going and wouldn't be able to write things up. I am not saying that we should make another FAQ - because that would be exactly what we are trying to avoid. But maybe a more technical, descriptive site. I know people have asked before the differences between a stock turbo and a PTE72. Integral vs External wastegates - with pics. Some of us are visually stimulated. I know some of this information is out there. For me I go back to the Chitown SyTy of years back and I really wish I would have been more involved then. There were a lot of good things happening. Maybe it is a misconception I have been given. Maybe we are all older now and don't have the time we once did.

Go to Tech. Just for that kinda stuff. If you wanna put something up, say the word. I'll get you FTP access, that way you can have pics in directories that don't have the term 'homo' in them :wink: We just gotta keep it clean and organized.. I'd like to have a badass looking site, but most of the time that means bandwidth, and a webserver running at home doesn't have much excess bandwidth. So I'd like to keep it clean, with pics & tech info. My old site is dead, working on getting the old pages back up.
Also, how many TTA's have pics on our site? :wink:

if we can build the faq into a plain html, we could all draw directly from that file, and include it into our different site layouts, while still maintaining the same data. I was thinking about this, just havnt taken action to get it going.
I can begin setting up a custom system, or we can carry it out by using a bulitin board. I need a little help figureing out how writing the faq would go, we obviously dont want everyone adding "IM FUCKING COOL" to the faq, so how should we go about that.
how about re-formatting the faq?
I'm open to ideas.
As far as tech articles, I'll put up just about anything you guys give me. I cant write up everything because of time limits and the fact that we just dont have every varient of everything locally. Send me writeups and pics, and youll see it go on my site.

How about a new forum called "FAQ" in which submissions are peer reviewed by other Sy/Ty schmucks in the thread and revised at the discression of the original author. A single FAQ owner will be responsible for deciding which possible forum topics deserve to be placed in the FAQ once the forum topic has matured enough, and will be responsible for editing a private HTML copy for webpage integration onto the server that owns the FAQ to which others link.
Tech articles should be handled between author and website admin as they are now.

Heres me thinking out loud.
The new bulitin board that will be on this site soon has a voting system.
under a forum named "faq development"
one post per item to add to the faq. Set it up as a vote. say an item gets above 80% or 90% positive votes, it will then go into the faq.
We may have to only count certain people's votes - a faq admin group of sorts.
then, I can build a system that will allow the faq admin group to edit/add items in the faq.
everyone can link/phpinclude the file from that point.

the one thing that should go in the FAQ is a finalized statement on the exact function of a BOV... ive seen a lot of posts regarding the functions, pros/cons of a BOV. itd be nice to see one finalized version stating exactly what it does, how to hook it up, etc etc etc, just so everyone is clear and not confused...
secondly, i asked a question about tire pressure a lil while back, and someone... i think it was BG posted a shit load of useful info on the topic, that was more than helpful. that should also be added to the FAQ
