Hi all,

I had installed a 160 stat a few months ago and noticed that my truck was running hotter than with the stock stat. Well I took a spare time and noticed that there was an oil pool like the diameter of a quarter next to where the thermostat is located... WTF is this guys???

Thanx

There is a slight cup to the intake which allows water, etc. to sit in there. Are you sure its oil?

If so, could be whoever last performed an oil change may have accidentally spilled some while refilling.

If you can't see oil anywhere else...I would say that is your issue. Does seem strange that oil is there though. I will have water and/or coolant in there at times due to various spills...couple of dabs with a paper towel and it is dry again.

Hope this helps

Thanx for the quick responses!

Well, It could be coolant since the hose was colapsing under heavy heat. But, when I dipped my finger in it it looked just exactly like oil... that really dark brownish look.

I'll see what happens as soon as I change the stat. I sure hope it's only antifreeze :-?
