NOJIMMY(Larry's) Typhoon coming back to life!

As many of you know Rockford Ripoff Craft has finally left us! Larry's Typhoon was has been there for close to 10 years with very little done after the motor was built by Stokes. He had to go pick it up and salvage what he could from boxes laying around the shop.......many of his parts that were not bolted to his truck had price tags on them to be sold.

Long story short......the truck is back home in Colorado at my buddys shop and is making a ton of progress in just two short weeks. The list of things to do or fix is still long, but is getting shorter every day! I can't wait to see Larry and his wife drive away in there Ty under its own power!!

Here are some pics of the less then half unfinished NoJimmy Typhoon.

The day these photos were taken the truck needed fuel lines, regulator, radiator, a2a, complete Hydroboost, drive lines, finish exhaust, punt the old Fel Pro stand alone back to the 1990's, finish shifter hook up/cooler lines, re-gear rear end for different tire sizes, fuel cell hook up, install cal trac springs, tighten motor mounts along with every other bolt in the truck that for some reason was never tightened in 10 years, replace some how broken brand new flex-a-form rear leafs, A/C hooked back up, install new BS3 system, put fluid in a bone dry million dollar trans that I hope holds up during tuning.................anyways...as you can see the list goes on and on, BUT is almost complete as of right now!!! <-----run on sentence...lol

For all you guys that told him just to part it out......go pound phuckin pound sand and learn how to work on a truck!:rotf:

Glad to see Larry's truck coming back to life. It is surely long overdue thats for sure. Make sure when it fires up you get the pictures of Larry's face and the big smile I am sure that will be part of it.

Not sure who did the intake< but it looks very nice! There is an accufab TB on it and no EG since the vortec heads that are on it don't have the EGR circut like the factory syty heads do.

I can't wait either....Larry is a good guy and I'll take some new pics today and also do a start up vid for him if all goes well!

I think it's the factory green that he had the cladding painted to match alomg with the flames.

Good looking low mileage Typhoon !

What type of power steering pump is that ? I like the high pressure side entry .

Well its less than a month away but I see no reason why we shouldn't see Larry and Claire pulling up to nats 12 in this thing :D

From memory his serp belt setup that comes with the power steering pump is vintage air brand but you need to modify the water pump outlet if running a single turbo as the outlet points at the crossover pipe I believe.
I thought he said the manifold was a wilson or hogan brand, defiantly not something cheap which is a big reason why it looks sooo good!

Good luck I hope to see the truck running but if not at least there is someone finally working on it :D

You must be superman to be able to do in weeks or even a couple months what this so called "high quality syty specialty shop" couldn't get done in years.

Re: NOJIMMY(Larry's) Typhoon coming back to life!

replace some how broken brand new flex-a-form rear leafs

Search the board, this is a common problem and tends to happen when trucks with felx-a-forms sit. I think another member posted that he went to work or out of town and come back to find them snapped on his garage floor.

I suggest calvert racing leaf springs personally.

Maybe Larry will chime in, but I think his 'vette, the Ty, and his childhood pedal car were all painted the same green so they match up perfectly.

If there's any way I can help while I'm there (with ECU stuff or whatever), lemme know!

Wasn't that Daron's Aspen? I remember the same post Mike. I agree, I think it's common on trucks that sit.

That's what was put on in place of the flex o's......I'll get some pics of the bottom of the truck since it's all finished up now.

****Things that hopefully will be ordered this week to get this truck fired and moving are the BS3 and a Be Cool radiator to replace the one that was pilfered along with a laundry list of other items.

I forgot to ad that new Wilwood rear disc brakes were ordered and put on last week....to complete the brake system. Also had to make all the front brake lines since those were mia aswell.

Getterdone Rod and Ry!

His truck is in very capable hands finally and as long as the motor and trans are good I am sure we will see this thing moving under its own power at nationals this year.

Give me a heads up when you guys get close to firing it up as I wouldn't mind swinging by to witness the miracle first hand.

We're crossing are fingers in hopes that the motor and trans are going to work!

The valve covers were pulled off to make sure things were tight and discovered it had stock stamp steel rockers instead of the Jesel's that he paid for.....bummer!:(

Drop down this week if you get a chance.

I honestly couldn't imagine anybody getting ****ed harder than Larry did by Guy. Somebody seriously needs to enlighten Guy on proper business practices and human decency.
