New Guy

Hello All, I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself and get a feel for everything around here. This is my situation, If all goes well on monday I will find myself in the position to be a proud owner of a 92 or 93 Typhoon. I say 92 or 93, because I have 2 vehicals in the same price range but 2 different ways to buy. I found a 92 Ty at a dealership, and a 93 Ty private owner. Both vehicals are in the same price range. The Dealerships 92 is mostly stock looking, only a noticable K&N cone filter. The Private owner 93 Is NOT stock and is actually in great condition. 93 with 85,XXX miles on it. The 92 has 90,XXX miles on it. Both have signs of old age, as they should. Is there any major differents between the 92 and 93 that I should look for? Any Questions I should ask the private owner, or anything I can use to get the 92 at a better price.

I will fill in any blanks I may have left as they come up
Thanks All and look forward to posting often.

Take care
Jason

Whereabouts do you live?

You need to get some local SyTy'ers to help you out, look the truck over, run datamaster, etc.

My ass. Look at it.
Re: New Guy

Get them BOTH!:D

get the 93 from the private owner, dealerships dont know a thing about these trucks:tup:

Re: New Guy

I am in northern Illinois, and not sure of any clubs around here. the 92 at the dealership looks good to me for only one reason, Its at a dealership and I can get it financed through them. Sure Ill probably pay more just for that reason, but Im not sure I can get a bank loan for the 93. I will find out monday. The 93 is definatly a 12 second truck. I have yet to drive the 92. A couple of things I have noticed on the 92 during my quick look over:

ALL 4 rims were curb rashed and dented pretty badly.
The bumper flair was not lined up right ***told would be fixed before sale***
Driver Rear Side Skirt Broken ***told would be fixed before sale***
little rust along side the body flairs.
Under Hood
AC disconnected and hose just hanging there
MISC Wires hanging from driver rear of engine bay.
I will take some Pics monday of the 92 and show you whats going on.

Also on the 92, When started up there was no noticable difference in idle during the whole time it was running, and no underhood noises. I guess that was a plus.

Again I will post more as it comes up.

Looking forward to it.

Re: New Guy

What are the prices for these two trucks?

From the description you gave of the '92 Ty, the '93 Ty is sounding better already.

You can pretty much bet the dealership will do a half-assed job on those promised repairs for the '92.

I wouldn't finance. You'll just end up making payments and paying for full coverage insurance on a broken down truck that you can't drive.

Re: New Guy

the 92 is black and listed at 9990.00 could probably get away with 8k
the 93 is white and the guy wants 10k firm.

Well I have to get a loan either way so full coverage is going to happen.

keep em coming

Dont get a loan!

Get a line of credit=no full coverage!

Re: New Guy

Right now, Just getting one is the plan. If I had the 10k I would definatly get the white 93. He already has a list of mods, and I have already drove it. The 92 only appeals to me because I can probably steal it for around 7,990. What are the major differences between the 92, and 93. Only big thing I noticed was the power seats in the 93 over the 92. That doesnt matter to me because I am a Big Guy and Sitting lower is alittle bit better for me. Thats a + for the 92 in my book.

What other differences are there?

Re: New Guy

Any money you will save with a truck needing repairs will be spent 3x in fixing them.
