New guy on da block

New sy owner,actually,last fall I bought it off ebay from a guy in Idaho. Its #857. Its got a few goodies,nothing crazy like most of u guys.
I had it painted once I got it including the cladding,2" cowl ind hood,new tonnaeu cvr
Ive been working as a gm tech for 12 years but never really had much expierience with these trucks.its a whole new world in tuning. Hats off to you guys that really know these trucks and can get them running like a clock.

Sorry I didnt post the mods,there is alot of sick trucks on this site and didnt feel worthy! Well I bought it with most of the work done which kind of sucks in a way cause there is some mystery on a couple items.I will list them as I go...
925 cfm turbo,mechanical wastegate ,battery relocated down below to accomodate,applied research headers,3inch exhaust and flowmaster,15k on new engine with upgraded cam??? (mystery) 7th injector system, control module shorted out so right now its unplugged(I have learned that this is a poor system anyway) aux intercooler, adjustable fuel pressure reg,appied technologies prom, trans has been worked and a high stall convertor,HD front prop,boost and exhaust temp gauge on A pillar,pollished oem wheels,eclipse sound sys,alpine amps,jl speakers,alarm,keyless entry, injector # is a mystery,Fuel pump is a mystery,Im sure they have been upgraded??Im sure there is other goodies in there but its a mystery,truck runs very strong,at times when its real hot I get a miss under high boost,
Since Ive had it: I installed MSD 8.5mm wires with ngk ur5, painted the truck including the cladding(black of coarse) 2 " cowl induction hood w,struts new truxedo bed cover,clear light kit.more to come,I love this truck!!! Dont break my balls on some of my wording,Ive been a wrench for years but the turbo scene is all new to me.

sounds nice man and welcome aboard.. all the info you'll ever need on these trucks can be found here.

First thing i'd suggest is remove/replace that flowmaster muffler asap.. it's costing you hp big time.. they aren't ment for turbo applications

Secondly ditch the 7th injection system all together

Thirdly find out what chip you have installed and what color injectors you have

and finally get with another nj member who has datamaster or a scan tool that can scan your truck to see exactly how well she's running before you mod it or run it any further... these trucks are ticking time bombs so to speak so owners have to stay on top of knock etc pretty regularly.

I appreciate the info and advise.Its got a cat on it too,the previous owner said it ran better with it??? It was cool that this truck passes jersey emmissions(barely) but I plan on doing more mods and just register it a collectable car when the next inspection rolls around. The injectors are red,does that help? The 7th injector module is shorted and unplugged,the dam thing was dumping as soon as you would turn the key on,wow,talk about rich!!! the system is absolete and I will end up removing it all together.
I have been playing with my snap on scan tool and watching knock retard,it was off the wall when I got the truck,knock sensor was actually breaking apart.I changed it and numbers are like 7 and below,need to play some more with that issue.alright Probably time for a spanking,getting a bit off topic for this section

If it's a stock turbo truck then that's correct.. the stock wastegate is undersized so it can't handle open or striaght exhaust all that well so minimal back pressure is required to have decent boost control.

Well obviously zero is ideal but most can live with 3-5kr which is the range im currently in so i'd personally begin the hunt to track down what's causing your kr before doing anymore mods to the truck but that's my opinion.
