New best track time.....

Set my new personal best tonight with the stock motor, turbo, and intercooler. Last Oct it ran 12.47 @ 105.6 with no converter lock, thats why there's pretty low mph. I now have it back together with a new converter that locks and have been struggling to get it back down to that time. I raced last Wed night here and ran two 12.52's and a 12.53, at around 106.6. Well this past weekend, I went to Iowa to a track that is supposed to hook awesome, well it didn't. Best pass there was a 12.58 @ 105.9. So tonight I figured I'd go back to the street car Wed night races at my local track, 10 min from my house. This track does no track prep for the Wed night races, no vht, so it's usually pretty slick. First pass was a 12.81 @ 106.3 w/ a 1.821 60'. Second pass I figured I'd leave with about 1psi to see if it'll hook better, but it just came out really slow with a 1.87 60' which lead to an embarrassing 13.01 @ 103.8. Last pass of the day, figured I'd crank on it and if it hooks great, but I'm sure it'll just spin like always. Left with 17psi @ 3200rpm and went 1.78 60' and got through the lights at a 12.46 @ 107.7! I'm still confused as to how it hooked. However, I'm definitely making more power than I was last year, as my last years 12.47 pass was on a 1.69 60'. It's only .01 faster, but I'm going back this weekend, they have a bracket weekend so the track is preped very well.

Yeah, if I can get it back to the 1.70's 1.69's it should go low 12.30's. They're having a bracket weekend this weekend at the track so it will be preped very well, I may go back and race then. Get some real good 60's and try for a 12.3 @ 108. 20/23 tune. 110 octane.

Whatever you do, dont overboost to 25.5 psi because then you will be left with a ticking/knocking noise coming from the #1 exhaust manifold. :x

dave has always had good luck leaving the line spinning. I think if you stage shallow you actually get a run at it..

bc these trucks in your power range won't spin for long.. and the shallower you can stage and spin the better.

I agree jwaller, I can leave with no boost and it goes nowhwere, but if I leave with lots, it spins and gets real loose, but it's fun as hell and always goes faster when it's spinnin.

My truck turned 108,000 miles on the way to the track. Original everything except for the trans and converter.

Sweet times Mark. You couldn't even hook w/ the DR's?

For the Wed night race there is no track prep, so it's slick, even with the DR's.

WOW those are some impressive times on the stock stuff!

Thanks, I honestly think it's got .30's in it, I just have to get it to stick. They have a bracket weekend this weekend and the track will be preped very good, so I may try to run then.

One head light racing is at it again.

How 'bout it! I think the wallflowers wrote a song about me or something a few years back.....
