Nice kill. It is soooo cool when they learn that a 20 y/o pick-up/blazer with a 6 just kicked their butt.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread. I just read on a local forum, some guy has a twin turbo Cobra, that makes 1200 hp @ 28 psi boost. He did post a dyno sheet. What good is all that hp in a street mudstain? I bet he can't run any better than 13's in the qtr. A friend of mine has a GT that ran 8.8's (on a good night) in the 1/8th, smoking tires in 1st and 2nd. What does he do instead of chassis work?, he puts on a procharger. Now he smokes tires in 3rd and runs 9's in the 1/8th.

i can awnser that question for you,my other car "cough cough mustang":oops:makes 1200rwhp it is also twin turbo, although i cant use all the power on the street i can use up to 2/3's of it.with a properly tuned boost controller you can bring the power in very gently which allows for unbelivable traction on the street.now im not saying that my ty or others wouldnt destroy it on the street, but it definatley is better than a 13 sec car.it has gone 10.01@153 on 17" m/t dr's and 9.20@157 on slicks....btw its a 6 speed car as well

It's honestly not rocket science to get a car with a four link to hook on the street with some power. there are cars running the 10.0 index with factory suspension at just about every track. It comes down to how much time you invest in getting the suspension setup correctly and what tire your using.

That is my WHOLE point, most DON"T do any suspension mods, just add hp and think it will go fast.

...sounds like a large quantity of syty owners on here...throw more faster parts at it and it will go slower...

I ran 9's in my gto with no suspension mods and on MT et streets. You dont always have to mod the suspension if you have good tires and know how to launch your car. Although my gto was a auto car lol.

But I did get tired of swapping tires ect for racing hence why i now have syclones and sold the gto. i want to be ready to run all the time. A 9 sec rwd car on reg radials is not going anywhere from a dig on the street and will be quick to lose to a mid 10 awd in most cases.

Try running 10.01 with drag radials without heating them up or checking tire pressure lol. Not many guys DD 10 and 9 sec cars on there slicks all over town ect. You can beat alot of rwd cars on the street with a slower awd just because of traction. Not to mention the street is not going to be race ready like a prepped track. ( at least most wont, lol )

Re: Never put a snake against a storm!!!

Some cool rule of thumb for drag racing. If you take 1320/finish line mph you get the ideal ET a car should run.

For example my ty ran 118mph @ 11.17. If you do the math you show 11.18 is ideal. Right on the money.

Take the fellow syty owners 157 mph, and you get a 8.4ET. His best of 9.4 shows traction/60ft is limiting ET drastically.

Stock ty run right at 100mph or ideal ET of 13.2 a bit fast but has been done with stock trucks before.

Robert in sweden is running 155mph or so, 8.51 vs his times in 8.7x range. Telling me he most likely has power pulled out at start for traction reasons.
