Need help picking a turbo for N/A engine

I'm seriously looking into running a "remote" turbo set-up on my 2001 4.3L Noma. I want to either place where the cat was or further back. I'm having trouble finding a good turbo to use on ebay. I want to run about 4 - 6 psi on the stock fuel system and eventually put in alky injection.

Will this turbo work? http://cgi.ebay.ca/T3-T4-BALL-BEARI...hZ005QQcategoryZ33742QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

If not, can you recommend some that will work good with the 4.3L?

Thanks for the help!

For ease of installation, I think you are going to want a turbo with an Internal wastegate. The turbo you posted about doesn't have that. Why not use a Stock SYTY turbo? It can easily give you 4-6psi, just adjust the wastegate actuator. Plus they are way cheaper then the turbos you are looking at.

Instead of going remote mount, why not use a set of SYTY exhaust manifolds and downpipe and do it right. There are plenty of parts around for this, just look in the members marketplace forum. It will end up being a better setup than the remote mount idea you have.

#1, Welcome to the board!

#2, The search button is your friend.

#3, If you are serious about turboing that 4.3, build the bottom end of your (or another) engine talored spedifically for the turbo. It will pay off in the long run. If you don't, you will be wishing you had.

I agree, the turbo listed is more suited around a 2 liter 4 cylinders anyways.

Re: Need help picking a turbo for N/A engine

I want to go with the "remote" mount for ease of installation. It won't be much different then having the turbo in the engine bay, because I want to put it right on the end of the y-pipe. There just isn't room in my engine bay with A/C and all that other fine stuff. I also just recently installed some Hedman longtube headers and would like to use those to my advantage.

Is an external wastegate that much harder to fab up? I did look for a syty turbo on Ebay and here, but I didn't find any for sale?
