NATS location

new NATS might mean a new location! Where would you be willing to show up for NATS? It's been centralized in Kansas City for many of the 10 years of its existence. The first NATS i attended was in chicago, which had a huge turnout, and probably helped convince me to become addicted to the trucks.

In my opinion, having NATS rotate around between 2 or more locations would be ideal, giving more people a chance to show up if its not ideal to travel as far as some are willing. What i don't want to see happen though is NATS just turn into some regional only event....whats the point of calling it "nats" then?

I think it should move east. Doesn't seem like the people from out west show up anyway. While I wasn't at some of the very first nationals, I've never seen a bigger turnout than Chicago.

I voted anywhere. I will not bring my truck if its more than 24 hour drive, though.

Have you had to drive from West to East, 9 hours + across Kansas? You wouldn't be very enthusiastic to make that drive either. :rotf:

Where ever it moves, you're going to make it farther away from someone and give them less of a reason to show up. The west we enjoy just happens to be bigger and farther to get anywhere. I'm guessing you will never get much attendance from the Westies, unless Nats is held in a western city. Same goes for a lot of the East coasters if Nats moved West.

Moving the city from year to year might not increase or decrease attendance, but it might change the variety of trucks that show up. :tup:

I like the bowling green choice.. its pretty good located for the Florida peeps, East coast people and the Midwest crew

Its just as far for many of the guys from NE and they still make it out. Hell KC is 4 hours closer to Denver than it is to New York. With a lot less city driving I'm sure. I can't help it no one from the west wants to drive.

I voted Denver, for obvious reasons but might go anywhere even though I havent even been yet. Im with TJ on driving through Kansas, what a nightmare.

Anything other than a midwest location is not a good idea IMHO.

It is in the middle so both east and west people have equal travel.

Me living in the midwest does not shape my opinion. It is about getting the most people there and to do so it has to be in the midwest. Its pretty simple.

If it is on either of the coast you can count me out along with about 5-10 other people right off the top of my head.

Kansas blows to drive through, but I'm glad to do it every year. And I voted Denver too :tup:

Bowling green would more than double my trip, so it would be a small possibility that I wouldn't be able to attend.

I voted Anywhere, but Denver would be pretty cool. If it's in KC in '09, we'll be taking the northern route up to I-80 through Nebraska then South to KC... No more Kansas for us. :lol:

We should also take stock of what we need from a Nats location:

• Track Close By
• Hotel with enough rooms/secure parking facilities
• Possibility of a Dyno? (assuming attendance was very high)
• Outside entertainment - Dave & Busters type place? Golf/Mini Golf? Autocross Area? Museums/Shopping/Entertainment for wife and/or kids?
• Close restaurant for brunch/awards
• Possibility of locations for group photos (Red Rocks parking full of SyTys would be freaking amazing!)
• Possibility of "cruise" scene or short scenic drive?

Just a few ideas to throw out there. :tup:

•Yes (I know the guys at Carz Customs, who have an AWD dyno, which is 15 min from hotel, 10 from the track)
•Tons
•Right across the street from the hotel

•Tons of mountain cruises (Rocky Mountain National Park anyone?)

Chicago can and has provided all of that and then some. Just more food for thought.

KC isn't bad though at all. I think the town is a little boring but I am not there to see the town.

Bowling Green isn't a bad idea either but I think it would be more pricey than KC or Chicago... but that is a guesstimate

:lol: my list was pretty biased towards Denver, wasn't it. :lol: I guess my secret is out... But I'm sure other places qualify, I've just never been there to find out.

My vote goes to Chicago. This vote is based on the fact it has had the best turn out in the past. I did not attend those shows but, I hear about the shows at that location. I have been to the 06 and 07 Nats only, 06 was a good turnout but last year was a little weak and honestly I do not know if I would make the trek to KC again. It is a fun time but, I was disappointed to see such a small number of trucks. Thanks for taking time to ask what us SyTyers would like, I know it is a difficult task to try to please everyone.
