My very first track times ever!

My best 1/4 was 15.575 at 88.95 and that was consistent with 5 runs, give or take a few .10's or 1-2 mph.I know this isnt real impressive, but is it still OK for a totally stock TY?In the mean time I'll keep trying.

Where are you?

I would think that some better times are quite possible.
Do you have a scantool?

I would at least hope for a low 14, high 13...
But that's just me.

Mine ran the the 13.6 with chip and racegas.

A local syclone guy (Aaron) put 101 in his, and with just a k&n ran a 13.9.
$5000 truck with 115k on it.
Untuned, and crappy launch.

These were both at high altitude to boot.

Will-
CRAPPY LAUNCH??? It was a 1.875 60' and 13.93... :D
but it was also my first outing ever...so I hope for a better launch
and better reaction time...I wish I hit a .640...

BAD BOW TY-
Are you spooling before launch? Once I learned to lock the brakes
I was amazed at how much faster the truck is off the launch...

oh yeah most strips have pressure sensitive timing, if you have prestage lights, as you roll over the line the lights light up. reaction dosen't matter, only when you move your time starts. I sit on the line until i build enough boost-i don't care if i have a 2sec reation time.......

Where? The timeslip...

Where? The timeslip...

I am too embarased about my reaction time to post the timeslip. It sure is hard to watch the tach, boost guage and tree but I will learn. I did manage a 14.08 on a 1.999 60' and some other low 14's all with close to 2 sec 60' times that same night.

Hey Bad I heard throught the Buick guy grapevine that you were at the track weds, and things didn't go well.

You gotta ice that I/C....and leave the pump on while you let the truck cool. Engine off key on.

Shut it off on the staging lanes....heat is an ememy.

I stand on the brakes, one quick rev to 3500-4k and then put it in drive not OD. I've had many 2+ secs reaction times in both the GN and the Ty while getting just the right boost. Who cares it's T&T so unless it's an F-body, Mustang, or RICE just drive your truck and forget about the other guy. Anyone in the stands that comments about it is either not ballsy enough to run there car or has a 16 sec+ ride that can't spin there street tires in the water in the burnout box.

If I have time at M7 we can try to do a little tuning, and Invisibill will be there but maybe w/out his truck and he is full of info. A laptop and DM is ahellofalot cheaper than pistons and rods.

Above all remember if you're fairly new to the track that everyones been there for the first time and even after hundreds of runs at the same track over the last 7 years I get the jitters the first time out each year.

HAVE FUN......that's what it's all about.

I don't want to sound like a low post know it all but it works for me 9-11-02 @ Mid MI 1.85 60 13.7 @ 96.7.

See ya in a week.

The worst run in my Sy was 14.7, and that was the very first time I ever had anything at the track. Twins' 13.7 was with just ice, a Jabsco, and a K&N cone on the crossover tube.

You definitely have something wrong. If you're planning on going again, let one of us know. We both have Datamaster laptops...

My truck is actually running ok for now. Seems to be time for that ignition tuneup still though... I stopped and talked to Linds for a while, while you were asleep. She told me about everyone's plans for the Jeep already. =)

Hey Bad, That was almost exactly where my first time to the track was ( 15.128 @ 86.81 ). My Ty has had some work done since then but is still basically stock. I highly recommend a tune-up. Cap, rotor plugs and 8mm wires. That took almost 1 sec off my times. But my ty was running like S@#! the first time out. Best of luck, let the fun begin. P.S. My Ty 109,000 miles

first time i took the sy i ran a 14.2 and cut out or overboost, something (fell on its face) twice still ran 14.2
as far as i know it just has a k&n cone filter, 40,xxx miles
i didn't make anymore runs because it did that

Hey twins,I did meet up with some guy who knew you (tan GN).He said you have the laptop and datamaster. Are bringing that with your TY on 10/5? That would be sweet if I could hook it up to mine.I was consistently running around 15.5-15.6 at about 89mph.R/T are good at .6 .Like you guys said it doesnt matter as much.Needless to say I felt a little ashamed with my runs, especially after that guy told me you were running low 14's with your stock TY,What the hell! What gives with my truck.Maybe you and Bill will have some pointers for me.I considered entering it in the event but if knock is high I dont want to do any damage. When are you and Bill getting there on Sat?7am?

well, my truck is 100% stock, no chip, no dip, and I dont even have a K&N filter. My first time out I ran a 16.7, but not knowing my fuel pump was on its way out the door a week later. Went back with a new fuel pump, and went from a 16.7 to a 13.7 @ 92mph, STOCK. I wouldnt be happy with a 15.anything, hell, i wouldnt be happy with a 14.anything, even with a stock truck. JMO.

Reactions times don't mean shit. I often have reaction times of 1-2 seconds. Just to give the competition a fair start. :drinking:

I dunno, i think i usually try to leave between 5-7psi since I have to drive 45 mins home, dont need to break anything. I usually pull 1.80-1.84 60's on 44psi radials.

Thats what my Ty runs. All I have is Cold Air and a 160 degree thermostat. When I got my truck it did mid to high 14's. Then I just went through it and did the entire ignition, replaced the dead IC pump, got a good battery, and cleaned the dirty K&N air filter. After that I started turning 13's all day long.

Heres a video of that run also.
