Ok

I bought two trucks which both were from this site-the first one was here

which has allot of upgraded parts - downfall it has a salvage title and im not crazy about red

second one i bought

Real nice guy, clean truck and couldnt pass it up for 6k.

My thoughts were to pull the motor out of the black truck and swap it with the red built motor, I was also going to upgrade the prop shaft and the tranny from waller, he has been helpfull to me so far (thanks) i was going to return the red truck to stock (its solid) and have my friend repaint both trucks. then decide if i was going to sell the red truck or not.
is there anything else you guys would recommend upgrading with a built motor/tranny since the motor will be out of the black truck? any suggestions or feedback on my project is appreciated. Thanks -Charlie

Sounds like a good enough idea. What's your plans for the black one though when you get the engine in it? Weekend warrior, daily driver, then we will have a better idea of what direction to point you. Looks like you got some good deals, good luck!

Re: My two truck project

I would like to keep the black one as a toy, shooting for a 12 second truck, nothing crazy. from what i see and the build i have, that should be achievable. I was woundering with the motor out, whats my weak link?. from what i have read and reasearched (im on here 24/7) its the tranny and the front shaft, members have gone 9-10's with the transfer case. So im not going to worry about that. but i dont have a ton of money left, since im 24 and just paid for two trucks. but i dont want to be stupid and overlook something that is really needed. I was going to do the mounts and things when its out. Is the front intercooler a must in a 12 second truck? Thanks for everyone reading this and helping

No you don't need to change anything on the front I/C to get 12's, you could if you wanted to and it would be easier to get 12's with colder air but not a requirement. Sounds like you got it all figured out tranny, prop shaft, solid mounts, are all good ideas.

Re: My two truck project

while the motor is out, i was going to replace the motor mounts.. what are you guys using? also noticed because of the setup of the turbo, it looks like i have to get longer wires.. (maybe off a 350) and cut them if needed.. the right side of the motor bay is fine.. anyone else ran into this issue?

I have JSM frame pads and moroso solid mounts. Nice stuff.

For plug wires, I did use a set from a 350, but I needed the longer wires on the drivers side because I routed them down under the headers

If you have stock manifolds, you should be able to route them down from above on both sides, IMO, but getting the longer wires makes it alot easier. Especially with external wastegates, etc. I have mine top routed on that side with a 3" downpipe and have had no problems thus far Mine are nothing special (Accel 8.8mm) .. They're more or less temporary... when it needs the ignition parts replaced I'm swapping it over to individual coils

Re: My two truck project

Just to give everyone a update, i was working on the red truck (first link) that had code issues, it was giving a code 43.. after getting it.. i gave the computer a good tap test, it ran like shit when i tapped it.. So I bought a new ecu and custom chip from waller. The truck ran perfect after that, next issue is truck only is making 10lbs of boost. it seems to pull real hard even at that. the wastegate spring is only a 10lb spring, whats my best bet, installing a manual boost controller or what? i am running 110 octane in the truck, jsut incase testing or tweaking i overboost or something.
