Re: my small project

Just incase no one has told you yet but there is something wrong with the studs for your rockers. They are probably too short, especially since your using lock nuts and they aren't even through the stud at all which means those nuts could and will lossen up and come off. I have seen a lot of posts on this site about rocker studs but I do not personally know which ones you need but check into that before you have a problem.

Oh and good luck with the truck its looking good.

Re: my small project

in the pics they are not set all the way. I bought the rockers and studs from rpm. They should be the right ones. When I set the lash and 1/2 turn past they all sit about flush with the tops. the They are on there tight and I dont think they will come off. I am not sure as this is my first time doing a project like this. Thanks for the observation. tomorow I will post how they look now and if it looks ok. I would hate to do all this work and have something big go wrong. I am putting my trust in the vendors and you guys for the correct parts and info. Thanks, Gary

Re: my small project

Okay I thought the pic was how you had them set. As far as I remember they should all be close but they are not always the same from my experience.
Just as long as you have some stud above the nut you should be good because the nut can't back off.

Re: my small project

thank you. I like to hear input from you guys because about 80% of you know more about this then me. Thats why I post pics so I can find out what I did wrong and fix it before I turn the key.

Re: my small project

After looking at them today I see I set some down to far. I did a bunch of reading and reset them to what I feel is correct. There are a few that are a few threads from the top. I read about using washers but from what I read these are the correct parts and I dont need washers.?? I am lost.

Re: my small project

Well I don't know those to me look like the studs are not long enough and not enough stud is going through the nut.
Maybe the other people are using poly-locks which might give some more length.
I would maybe give Mike at rpm a call and see if he can look at the pics and say if that is correct. I just hate to tell you something and make you worry and it is actually ok.

Don't you just love these trucks how everything you do it seems to be a huge ordeal

I am finally starting to put mine back together, its only been like 3 years or so.

Good luck and keep on trucking

Re: my small project

He has not seen the pic yet. His past posts on other threads say the rockers work with the posts but I am not sure if they looked like this.

i have a old gear head racer do it. he owns barry wright race cars. he builds a lot of dirt track race car chassis.

the color is called " aluminum powder" then coated with clear powder.
