Re: MSD failure, suggestions on alternatives

Crane Hi6r is what I"ve used in the past. I have one, just have not installed it yet. I use to have it on my 408 powered Dakota R/T, and I had it on there when I had a S/C on with the 360 before building it to the 408. I've never had a problem with it, and I bought it used to boot. I also have the optional boost retard dial that goes with it. Anyhow, I'd be willing to sell it, seeing as how I"m not using it right now, and probably will never need it. I'm staying fairly close to stock, except maybe a chip. How's $225.00 shipped sound?

Well i recently bought a slitghly used Digiitial 6 box off ebay, and had it on the truck and it was working fine, then my stock distributor went out and i installed the MSD Pro Billet drop in replacement and they say to cut the green wire when using there distributor, as it some magnetic pick up compensation or something, well i cut it and now with it hooked up it wont start, go back to just the MSD coil and boom she starts. Im kinda upset right now about it also.

Well and today a new problem, i go to leave school and the dam truck wont start, just cranks and cranks have plentyt of fuel pressure, i remove the coil wire off the coil and boom no spark, so i go down to autozone down the street from school and spend 58 bucks out the door for a new MSD blaster coil and hook it up and still no spark, truck just cranks over fine, with great speed, well now the battery is starting to go down, so i stopped.

Thsi dam thing is really starting to get on my nerves, seems its a new problem everyday.

Re: MSD failure, suggestions on alternatives

I'll have to say guys i am really supprised at all the msd problems. I have used a 6a on my truck now for well over 20k and not a single ingnition problem, and i had taken this box off my previous truck which i think had another 30+k on the box. I always use the shock mounts to decress wear. I use msd's almost every hot rod or muscle car i send out the door. From basic 6a to the 10 series, i have only had one come back because the customer cut the wiring trying to install some acces. I'm kinda curious how consistant their manufactoring process is?

Yea the 300+ is on their with the 76. i usually dont turn the boost up much past 15 running around town. i run 93 octane all the time. no alky or anything yet. I could look up the part numbers later, but it did pretty much plug right in. if i remember correctly you only have to do a ground and a good 12 volt source thats hot on ignition and on crank. I also seem to think that the accel was multispark on a broader rpm range than the msd or crane unit, but i could be wrong there. I will be selling my accel box and coil soon since im going to be running a totally different setup on this next motor...

I am interested in your accell 300. Let me know when and how much? Thanks.
