motor mounts

fuck i hate gm... anyways.


the passenger side mount is in place, bolted down, just haven't put the pin in yet... thats after removing the starter, exhaust, turbo, top fan shroud and anything else in the way... took me 2 full days


my question, is how the fuck do you get to the drivers side, i can't even get the exhaust off!!!! the alt bracket is resting on the bolts for plug #1... so what do you have to pull all the shit off the frotn of the engine??

im tempted to just slap everything back together and take her to a shop.. hand them the drivers side mount and say have fun...


oh all this in 32 degree weather... with wind... been a lousy weekend.

I didn't take the exhaust, turbo or any of the accesories to get to the motor mounts disconnected. I remember thinking where they hell are the mounts and this is going to be impossible to do but we were able to do them with out too much hassle.

If you're still running stock ex. manifolds, then YES. You need to remove the Alt. and pwr. steering to get the drivers side manifold off.

Why not try an engine tie-down instead of changing the mount? I bought one from this guy ---> http://syty.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15682

Maybe see if he has any left? It'll do the job until the time comes when you need a motor rebuild, then change the mount.

Instead of messing with that cable that will stretch.. why not go and buy a ratcheting tie down and an eye bolt.. I got both at home depot for less than 20 bucks. replace the outer bolt on the alternator with an appropriate length eye bolt and then hook the other end on the frame or the sway bar mount.. works perfect.

I took my truck to a local shop here in town and had them replace my driver-side motor mount. They only charged me $130 and that included the mount. Not to mention, it was ready for me to pick up the next day. I thought it was definately worth the money to have someone else do it.

ya i already have the mount so we'll see, im going that route AND/OR the tydown... heh ... get it... ty down... TY... ahh ok back to work
