I have a slight situation with my new Moser 12 bolt rear end. I went to put on my U bolts and found out that the Moser housing has 3 inch tubes rather than the stock SY rear end, which is 2 5/8. well I got 3 inch U bolts made today and I have a new dilema. The lower plate that holds the rear end to the springs, and mounts the rear shock, is not going to work. The holes don't line up? Anyone got any ideas where I could find a lower bracket that would fit???

Contact Phillip Long aka Turbo6 on this sight. I built one for him about 2 years ago. I think he slotted the holes in the lower plates to make the U bolts fit.

had the same issue when i upgraded my rear. just open the holes up.
I used a die grinder. the pin on the springs will keep it centered.
george, the tire and axle assembly hit the front bumper during the 560 degree spin. but during the 560 degree spin the drivers taillight lense rubbed the mustangs body side molding in the other lane. only damage was a white rub mark on the lense. the mustang door got pushed in a bit.

See? My memory is going. The guy driving the other car didn't even know anything had happened did he? I don't think there are many other drivers that could've recovered from what Ed went through...hence the 12 bolt is better than...well, dead. Do you still have a link to that video?

i just ran into a simillar situation on my s10. i put a 9" in it and the tubes are bigger than stock. i bought some wider (3") and larger diameter (1/2") ubolts and slotted the lower shock bracket with a carbide bit.
i suggest getting the 1/2" diameter ubolts over the stock smaller ones

That lower plate's not picky. You could even weld on a new plate and redrill it if you don't like the idea of the slots in the plate.

You could switch to disc brakes and use the caliper brackets to retain the axles. That's what I did.
