manual rear wheel cylinders

i found the following in the syty.org archives. checked at www.napaonline.com, and the bendix part number seems to be cheaper $13 vs. $35 a piece. lemmie know how it goes and take some pictures if you can.

larger 7/8" wheel cylinders.
Napa carries the United brand, and part # 37664 is for a 88 S10 w/manual
brakes (7/8")........ same part # for Bendix is 33892

Ty's take a wheel cylinder that is bolted in place.............
supposedly Chevy part # 18015812 is a 7/8" bolt up rear wheel cylinder
for TYPHOONS.............. I say supposedly, cuz I'm in the process of
doing the rear brakes on a SYCLONE =)
These are off a 95 Blazer with manual tranny,
SUPPOSEDLY.................. =)

I had the guy next door put the 7/8 cylinders on the rear of my sy. They do use the clip to attach. get the tool for the clip before you start. It works like a snap ing but its a bit different, I disappeared while he was doin it as te clip seemed to be a bit squirrley to get a grip on.

thanks for the info. i'll post pics tommorrow night. i was hoping someone had the GM part # b/c a good friend of mine works a local dealership, but $13, damn i was expecting twice that.

we did this not long ago on adam's truck (which is now spinning the FRONT wheels on high psi launchs).
wasnt a real pain, but it seems everytime i do brake work, I somehow forget to put the top of the master resevoir back on.
The clips are a little strange. I didnt check out the installation, but adam got away using a big socket somehow.

85 S10 - manual brakes... autozone...
our cylinders are held in all fucked up... it uses a round retainer clip...
on each side, you take a screw driver and pop out the spring over the cylinder...
to put it back on, take a 1 7/8 (?, the size of the retainer) and and take a hammer and tape on the socket... the clip will pop back down and settle.
thats it.... then put the brake line back on... and bleed the system...
make sure to put on the resovior cap :roll:

got the one side that had a leaky cylinder done only to find out the hard line that goes from the front to the back is what popped

it wasn't at all difficult except for the figgin clip, spent an hour or so beating with screwdrivers and hammers to get it out, that is, after my snap-on awl broke :evil: i'd like to meet the individual who thought a clip was a great way to hold it on there an shove one up his/her ass.
part were very cheap. cost me $33.12 for both cylinders and all the pads. gotta love hook ups
