LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

Update:

Good News: I got the test cut back from the waterjet. It looks nice, i haven't bent it yet obviously....my vise isn't free to do so  Please note: this is a ROUGH cut, and the smaller legs' edges are a little coarse as you can tell in the picture. Also this is completely unsanded since being waterjetted, thats what the swirly marks are on the metal. This is not how they'll look after final cut. So don't worry...no shark attacks will ensue. Plus remember they will be powdercoated.

Bad News: I leave for a 10 day vacation in an hour and won't have time to bend this, test fit, or ship to someone w/ some cables to test it out. I haven't begun to pack yet, and i think i better leave work and get home and do that  So when i get back this will be my #1 priority to get done.

Nice looking bracket, i wish i had access to a waterjet, def a much cleaner cut than a plasma.

plasma will cut just fine if you're hand isn't shakey or you use a guide

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

Well i'm back from vacation and made it to the local sheet metal store. My press brake isn't strong enough to bend 1/8" steel, so i'll probably incur some cost bending these, but who knows.

Mine is the bracket on the right:

Here is a pic showing the cable pass through hole. On this set, the cable wouldn't even fit through the one bracket. They fit ok on my bracket.

And this shows the relief bend i'm adding to the bracket to relieve some stress from the cable.

Oh, and i test fitted the brake cables and they snap in great to the brackets. Now i'm just going to send them to someone to test fit, since i'm still gimp and unable to wrench w/o pain. Hopefully MRKING will be willing to test fit them since he's the one that's been helping me out w/ this project from before the hrv6 incident.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

Well I will start by saying that typhoon specs maybe different , but these cables DO NOT fit my syclone in any way . I will take some pics and get them up later , but for now...

The clevis end doesnt fit on my 02 ls1 ebrake plates on either side , the opening only allows for half of the arm to pass through . It does look like it could be made to work but .... From the rough measurements I was able to get sitting this cable next to my stocker still installed on the truck, the portion inbetween the clips is 6.5 inches to long and the cable end is 14.5 inches short . :squint:

I dont know what can be done to remedy this whole fiasco , but thats my take on it , sorry it wasnt better news . I cant get to my ty right now to see if they would even fit on it , but if someone can measure the distance from frame clip to frame clip in the back on their ty , I'll let you know if these are the correct length . GOOD NEWS is the brackets fit like they were made by GM . You guys are half way there . ;)

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

Well i had to open up the end of the cable so it fit around the arm on the backing plate, not very much, and not hard to do, and then it fit fine.

As for the lenght of the cables, i have a set of cables from the original GP that jjorgeson did from the kit i bought from him, and the cables i had made are the exact same length, and when i took over the GP from him and bought the stuff from him he never said anything about different length cables for Sy or Ty, and in the drawings there is only one cable set up. Maybe you are routing the cable wrong or something im not sure. The rear cables only go from the backing plate to the frame by the front of the leaf spring, Ill be home this weekend and will try fitting a cable on my Ty and see what happens.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

so wait a minute.

First your trying to place blame on someone else.... again.....

then You're saying that you never test fitted these before you took thousands of $$ in orders?

****ing moron.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

Well maybe these can go to all the ty owners if they do indeed fit . The syclone owners need more like this .

Compare that pic to these and you can see how much extra cable there needs to be .

 Hopefully these cables fit something. At least a Ty. This is beginning to look less like a scam and more like HRV6 is just an idiot.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

well i never changed anything about the cables from the original GP by the other guy, only the end on the cable, so why would i test fit them if nobody had fitment problems the first go around? I changed the design of the bracket and that is it.

Those cables have been fitted to Sys before... the part numbers are the same.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

well i didn't know that the clevise had to be opened up at all...and i don't remember reading that anywhere. I guess i'll open them all up so they work. I'll have to buy a caliper to do so.

MRKING - do you have a pic of the bracket installed? How does the angle look for everything? If its correct i'll go ahead and make a big batch of brackets.
