Losing boost. BOV?

I got my truck running good today and noticed that after 1st gear my 19psi drops down to 16. When I go into 3rd, itll go up to about 17-18 then drop to 16 again at the top of 3rd. Could this be my BOV leaking? I dont hear anything that sounds like leaking boost. I have a TURBO XS if anyones wondering.

turbo xs is a manual controller just like all manual valves I've ever seen this is normal.

ya I see it in his sig but what does the turbo xs do? is the bov a turbo xs?

yep. i think if it was leaking it would leak during boost all the time, not just between shifts. i think this lack of boost control is due to the stock wastegate

I had the same issue, but mine was do to the fact that I had a variable pressure tranducer in the same feed line as the map sensor. Did you hook your BOV on the same vacuum/boost line as the map? If so, then what may be happening, is that extra amount of vacuum/boost line may be causing the map to not get the accurate boost reading it should be, and therefore pulling timeing which may cause boost issues. On the other hand, if you have an aftermarket boost controller, I'd say waste gate most likely as mentioned previously.

On the MAP circut, I have the AFPR and boost controller. We are talking about a TURBO XS Blow off valve. Anyone seen these leak boost at that low of boost levels?

I have a turbo xs bov and it never leaks at low boost.
Could be that your spring is worn out. Try adding another washer or two, which puts more force on the spring, which in term, will hold your boost.

Re: Losing boost. BOV?

I have a similiar problem with my manual boost controller. I cant get it to turn down. So far the lowest I can get it is 16 psi. I also have a brand new boost gauge using a T off the manifold described in SYTYArchives How To. My boost controller is only inches away from the turbo. I'm afraid if I turn it out any more the twist handle and ball bearing will fall out. I also have the stock turbo & wastegate. Any suggestions? Thanks

What spring is in your wastegate? You can only turn your boost down as low as the spring will allow.

*** Stupid question drum roll please ****

Is the truck knocking, retarding timing, and dropping boost as a result? DM show anything?
