My gas pedal hits the floor a lot... Subsequently it doesn't really open the throttle 100% when I floor it. Is there a way to fix the cable/pedal so I can reach 100% with less pedal travel? (Preferably before it hits the floor and mashes/tears my carpet) Will the washer trick accomplish this?

put the washer in. Don't bend the pedal. The pedal trick works but then why would you want to bend something?

sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just realized me Ty is not getting full throttle due to the cable being streached. I thought it was because the pedal was hitting the carpet, but I moved it out of the way and it still does not open 100%.

Got any pics of where to put the washers? I would like to try this before replacing the cable.

Also, anyone got a P/N for a replacement cable?

Thanks

Stab it and steer it
Re: Loose throttle cable

I had to put a “spacer” under the bottom bolt of the pedal AND shortened the cable. Shorten the cable? The cable itself isn’t changed; I made the “effective” length shorter.

What you see are little pieces of plastic tubing cut lengthwise to fit over the cable. What they are doing is spacing the cable away from the bellcrank a little making the cable’s effective length shorter. Looks a little dorky I know but it works. There’s no movement of the cable in this area so there’s no wear. If you try this just get them between the end of the cable and the retainer that you can see just to the right of the plastic pieces.

Without the above mods I was getting only about ¾ throttle.
